Just bought a new computer from a dealer of ebay a few days ago. I won't get it for a couple weeks, but I can't wait. I ended up getting a brand new PIII 933 with 512 megs of DDR ram (upgradeable to a gig), 40 gig harddrive, 32 meg video card, dvd/cdrom, floppy, midsize tower, keyboard/speakers/mouse... Its great, and for only $425 plus $69 shipping and handling. I am going to throw in a better video card, more ram, zip and cdrw drives and I will be all set. I am also looking into a new monitor, maybe a 21" hitatchi, got my eye on a real nice one with a .22 dot pitch...
Its amazing how cheap computers are getting, it would cost me more than $425 for the components to put together that same machine..

I dunno man, if yer gonna go adding RAM, zip drive, replacing the DVD/CDRW and vid card you could have gotten a 933MHz barebones system (Case, motherboard, powersupply) for $250..

Now you gotta add all the other stuff on top of the $500 you just spent, when you would have saved $250 if ya got a barebones setup and still added the same components yer gonna put into the new machine.

I am not replacing the cd/dvd, just adding a cdrw as well. A 250 meg internal zip is about $60 or so, and 512 megs of ddr ram is around $60 as well from pricewatch.com. So that is only $120.00. I am going to be getting a different video card with capture capabilities so I can do some video editing.. maybe a ati rage 128 or something like that...
In any case, i know a woman who just bought a p4 from gateway for $3100! No matter what she got she overpaid by at least a grand

Yep it sounds like a good deal alright. I recently built a couple of new machines for my office, AMD Athlon 1.4 266, CDRW, 512 RAM, 60G HD, 32MVideo, and other stuff all for around $500.00 ea. I also just bought a SONY 21" monitor - KILLER. I have a buddy that builds computers and did some bench tests on the AMD Athlon processor vs the Pentium, the only thing Intell has going for it anymore is the name. The Athlon is way faster and more stable. Enjoy your new machine Tyler, while it still seems fast...
