Anybody seen one? We cant afford an Edge. For 4,800 is it a good deal? I would like to do full color But dont have alot to spend. Is 600dpi enough?

I am asking the same question. Also, I called our dealer in Pittsburgh and he quoted me a much lower price so be sure to check around!

i don't own the edge either robert.

before i bought the machine i would do research, such as what are the material costs to operate the machine?

i have heard that other digital printing devices require more costly materials.

i can't say this from experience, so take my advic with a grain of salt.

i am anxious to hear from others.

The PC-12 is a desktop version of the PC-600....the main difference is size of course, and the resolution. The PC-12 prints 600dpi, more than adequate, using the resin ribbons. You can find out more details at www.rolanddga.com.
I suspicion that the whole idea of this machine is to get those who can't afford the bigger stuff, to get into digital at an affordable price. I should have one pretty soon, so I'll spread the word ASAP!

Well I too wanted to try the PC12 and thought what a deal! Some impressions after playing with it for several weeks... First off, uses PC60 cartridges and not too efficiently at that. My cost per square foot is about $8.00 for a full color image. MY COST!
Uses 13" vinyl, so either you buy it from Roland or you spend time cutting 15" down to size. OK prints so far, with noticeable banding. Cutting is extremely slow. If you are looking for a production machine this is not it! $5,000 for this little printer is extremely excessive, I think I will wait until I can afford a PC600 or an Edge...

I paid off my Edge early with the money it has made for me. I am a one man shop and I rarely have that machine running more than an hour per day. I wish I did. I have never owned a Roland but I researched carefully before making my decision. If a piece of equipment is making me money I don't sweat the payments.
