I've been given the opportunity to speak to the Home Builders and Contractors Association Associates Council on Thursday (10/25/01)[short notice].
The meeting is for associate members of the organization; sign guys(me and others), printers, roofers, framers, concrete pourers, computer services...all kinds of "mom-and-pop" companies that support and rely upon the building industry in our community. These people help to keep people employed, and watch out for(and protect) small business interests at the county, state and federal level.
Why do these firms need signs?
What advantages do signs make to the independent subcontractor of a home builder? What would you say to these potential customers?
How do signs work?

Well Pat, there ya go. Thanks Coop for that great link. I'd never seen that site before - what a reference.
I kind of get the impression a lot of the people Pat will be speaking to need off-premesis signs like site signs and truck lettering. The tradesmen may need regulatory signs posted for legal requirements like listing their licenses or permit numbers, but I suspect most will benefit the greatest from signs that spell out their range of services and, most importantly, promote their image.

COOP, Excellent site thank you. It has all the required information I know, being a sign professional, but conveying it to the client is another matter. Perhaps we should point a few to this excellent site. Thanks again

I just read my Dad's post HA!! He doesn't know where ANYthing is! He even gets turned around right here in town. He comes in so early and goes right back home when we close he never sees all the new stores in town. He needs a sign to show him which direction is FORward! Either Mom or I lay out his clothes for him every night now. He was always dressing in the dark and I wish I had some pictures to post showing some of the getups he was wearing when we'd walk into the studio in the morning. We'd never take him anywhere with us during the day.....too embarrassing! Now we dress him and he looks cool.
We all know that coolness in men comes from a good woman. No? :^)
