My screen is wider and the purple panel is gone from the left side.

Is it me or is this what everyone sees?

Wow. too bad it soooooooooo nice to have all this rooooom on my screen. The whole screen is just topics, so breathable.

Just like those marching purple mushrooms, and large pink elephants sitting at the table sipping herbal tea.

Hey Dear? What DID you put in these brownies.....

There we go it's back now.

I used E-remove tonight and when it is done checking my e-mail, it asks you if you want to start your browser. I never used to let it because you have to set it up.

well tonight I set it up and must have selected an .exe file for netscape that didn't support frames I guess.

Oh, well.

It was nice while it lasted.

Bob,

I use netscape also. I was directed here a few months back via a link and set up a bookmark of that URL.

Later when I got curious I checked out letterhead.com & found the home page, navigation buttons, sponsors etc. When I click on "bullboard" I get a smaller window with junk on the sides. (purple sounds familiar)

So I never use that route. Here is the link that gives me that full screen of topics:
http://www.letterhead.com/ubb-cgi/ultimatebb.cgi

Apologies to the sponsors. (whoever you are?)

Doug. I'm sorry you consider the purple navigation link junk. Over the years, many of us have invested countless hours documenting past meets, creating step by steps, promoting future Letterhead meets and so much more. The navigation bar is the link to these other features.

What sponsors are you trying to get rid off? Letterville is sponsored by Letterville Residents. We do have Letterville Merchants that pay to promote their products here but there are no corporate sponsors.

I never cease to be amazed at some of our attitudes toward advertising. Believe it or not, I have created signs that advertise. There have been times, we have even helped pick a location to place these signs in a spot where people are forced to look at them. Are we evil?

That's not all. Over the years, our sign business conspired to generate business by mailing unsolicited pamplets, flyers and other blatant self promotion to unsuspecting prospects. We hung a sign on our building that demanded the attention of those passing by and lettered our shop vehicle to take our message to those that could not avoid the highway that ran past our shop.

OK. I admit I'm getting a little silly here, but I worry about the anti-advertising attitude we are hearing. What message are we sending to our suppliers? On one hand, we are asking them to help pickup the costs of our live meets and supply door prizes, yet we have no interest in their advertising? What's with that?

Please don't think this as junk!
We will always click to the site promo's when we want to.
The trouble is that when someone posts a picture or two we have one third of a screen that is blocked.
You have your sponsors and we deal with the sizing.
Nice to know a different avenue to accomodate the screen...
Don't take this to Heart!

Hi, my name's Chris and I use the back door also.

It started accidently when I opened the bullboard in a new window and really enjoyed the open airy feeling without the purple links on the left side. Thanks to that post by Alan Lad the next step for me was bookmarking both the back door & the front door.

Now I'm to the point where I always use the back door when I'm just checking out the bullboard but can always find the front door when I need to use one of the links.

I do appreciate the sponsors of this site & don't hesitate to pull up the page with links whenever I need to use it but kinda like banner ads or pop-ups that you see over & over again it does get old . I think the letterville logo's great & I don't even mind the green chat button but really, just how visually stimulating is that list of links?
How about another button for a menu of links & use the rest of the left bar to post a couple of thumbnails of signs, carving, or other items of interest? Besides, even those of us coming in the back door still get the ads at the top of the page & I don't have a problem with that at all.

It's just that...sometimes I feel like a link...sometimes I don't.

Steve,

Switch to de-caf dude. You seem to be reacting a little intense to a non-issue.

I didn't start a topic about liking a full screen bullboard but in response to that stated preference, I use the word "junk" loosly to differentiate between what Bob wanted to look at & what he didn't. (and I don't, & Stephen, & chris...)

quote:
What sponsors are you trying to get rid off?

Steve have you ever seen a "MUTE" button on a TV remote? You wouldn't actually be using that button during the commercials would you? I didn't think so, but some of us with the "attitudes toward advertising" you mentioned actually do mute commercials. Are we evil?

As Stephen said we know the sponsors, their role here, their products, & how to reach them when we need to. The fact that some choose to get what they came for (ie. bullboard) & leave the rest is not meant to offend.

I use filters to avoid spam email, I leave my fax number out of my yellow page ads to cut down on junk (no offense intended) faxes, but somehow I manage to spend almost every dollar I earn so I am still a full-blooded American consumer.
