This was the view I had yesterday evening....I am sure there are times when we should look back and reflect on what life has been......However... This view was here yesterday and I hope it will be here for many centuries to come.... (One of the few places on the East Coast where you can see the Sunset over the Ocean) Taken from Long Beach Pier on Oak Island NC where I live.

Nice photo, Shep! Here in southern New England our costline runs more-or-less east to west, and there are places, particularly in Rhode Island, with your ocean sunset views. Then again Rhode Island is backward in a number of ways...

A truly beautiful picture, I thought you could only see the sunset over the ocean at the Pacific. When in the Navy, we saw many beautiful sunsets in the Pacific. Lucky you.

Well now, way out here in the Pacific when the sun sets (and there are no clouds hangin on the horrizon) the very last portion(5% of the sun)flashes GREEN !!
I wish I could give you an intelegent discreption of "why" but I can't (don't really know). Its a "big deal" here, as on most Islands, and aplauded in resturants, bars, etc., that are open air or west facing.
Trully one of lifes little "fringe bennifits", happens bout 3 times a week, and is best observed by vessel(on the ocean).

Roger, I've been watching for the green flash several day a week for thirty five years and might have seen it twice. Guess the distant fog on the horizon might kill it.
