To tell you all Thanks!

I come here pretty much daily just to check in (or check in on) and get the warm fuzzy feeling just knowing you all are all here 24/7.

I make it to chat when I can and when I need to...

One night I really needed to chat, with someone I knew and that I could lay down my brush with and just talk with.

You see, my grandmothers have been doing their best here to shake things up, and a fine job they were doing for a while too.

One suffered a hemorragic stroke on July 23rd and needed emergency brain surgery to remove the blood clots in the back of her head. She survived it and the stay at Kaiser. And, she just made a landmark recovery move last weekend- she took a 5 hour car ride to see the wedding of the little girl that grew up next door to her. I nearly cried seeing her there...

On the first night of grandma's stroke I was awake late that night and feeling alone in her house. (I had traveled three hours to get to where she lived and left the kids and hubby at home.) Grandma has this very old contraption she calls a computer and lucky for me it had a modem in it... I dialed up her online service, loaded Letterville and clicked on that magical green button. I was HOME!!!

I didn't know what I needed, I had been busy all day getting or doing what everybody else needed and forgot about me... until I landed in the Letterville Chat Room- I needed family.

I am so thankful that the "boyz" were there telling rude jokes and the women there were keeping up with them, and off to the side I could have serious conversations with some I knew better than others... that I can't begin to express how much it meant to me, but say Thank You!!!!

When it was my other grandma's turn to land her butt in the hospital with congestive heart & lung failure and a panic attack the size of her oversized tuna boat she drives (well, that's what she calls it... driving that is), I had the strength to make that 3 hour trip again knowing I would have people there for me too... inside those little old lady computers they all have now- with my family inside them, always there always ready!

Thank you!

The soppy but sincere side of the Moon

(As you can see it took me near three months just to post this... is it too soppy? is it corny? oh heck with you all- I want you to know I appreciate you!)

Have any of you out there felt this way too? About our family here?

Steffie,

I know exactly what you are talkin about! I came here years ago and I licked my wounds from a car wreck (4th rear render) and went from bed ridden to vertical a lot of the time!

I didn't tell everybody that I was dealing with cancer for the 6th time till a year or so ago and those that held my hand and laughed with me in the beginning months of my stay here had/have no idea how precious their laughter and concern for my well being was/is!

I do know that it feels nice to have somebody say they noticed when I was away for a while. I wasn't forgotten. And that I'm in their prayers.

I feel the same way and hope no one here, when having a really hard time, will not think about looking here for a shoulder to cry on, or ideas to help things get better!

We all have our good days and we all have our bad...but it's nice to know that lil green button has so much magic with it! I'm glad you came in that night! And I hope you come back, especially under better circumstances!

By the way, how are your Grandmothers doin now?

No Stefanie, I don't think you were too "soppy". You just appreciate kindness shown to you. You must be a wonderful grand-daughter and person to travel to be with them. Letterville is a pretty good hometown

Linda, you are so encouraging. That's a selfless quality.

Not really Kathy, greedy! The more folks that feel better, the better the atmosphere for me and my grandkids! hehehe!

(Thank you for the compliment though!)

Good thing there are a bunch of people needing people on this board, otherwise I wouldn't find the time, either. Steph and Linda, you are both intelligent women and I feel that you definitely found this haven because you had experienced many areas of common thread, that are similar or unique to your own. I also find that no matter what the subject is, there are thirsty souls to listen and give great feedback to others. The guys are a riot, I look through all their "unique" ways of describing things if you get my drift, because, to me, it's all about the way the soup was made, not the stone and not the soup itself... carry on, I will pray for you.
I'm here too for basically the same reasons, to cry, laugh, and love! (and of course to learn and share the trade). I should be reading books, but this is too much "hands on life" experience! I feel very lucky to share the good times with the bad times with you guys. Write anytime if you want.
