How can I help or possibly remove the hairlines left on a project after laying silver?

Real silver, or aluminum? Was the size real tacky? With aluminum you need a good tack & set the edges in firmly before you burnish off the excess. Because it's so thick, the edges ride up over the previously laid sheets & can leave a holiday if not set in aggressively.
