My Roland 950 loses its registration on long, vertical cuts. If I cut the word “registration”, the last two letters might end up ½” lower than the rest of the word.
I know this is not due to flat spots on the rollers, etc, and have decided that it is most probably a worn or stretched rubber drive belt. This would allow the belt to skip a few teeth once in a while.
Just looking at the assembly does not give me any hints on how to remove the belt or tighten it up.
Does anyone have any thoughts on how the belt can be tightened or removed?
I don’t want to just start unscrewing things till I have a better idea what screws to mess with.
Does anyone have any thoughts on the subject?
Thanks.

there are NO BELTS!!! rolands are gear to gear driven. befor you go tearin it apart.....look at the top of the plotter, and then make the plotter head move up and down the length of the plotter....if the plotter head is hittin the top cover it will do this. have you moved or sat heavy stuff on the top of the plotter or tend to lean on it while its cutting? if these arent the problem then you need to call roland...

Joe my 950 has a belt that runs across the top to move the head back and forth. I have experienced the problem Jerry is talking about, just this morning as a matter of fact. Haven't been able to figure it out it'll run for weeks without a problem and then all of a sudden it goes off...

So Jerry if you figure it out let me know.

Dave
