Just wodering how many of us hear use products designed for signmaking as apposed to normal household products. make no mistake I am not digging on any merchants here I just think it would be nice to get a feel for what people are using. Mr. J sells the same cups I buy from my drug store. What is the differnce between Krylon and Frog spit

I tend to use products that are made for specific
uses in the sign trade.
I wouldn't consider something like a "CUP" to be
specific

Well, from my own personal experience, I can say that Frog Juice has worked better for me than Krylon.

As to the other products, I don't know if the "touted" sign products (such as Jay Cooke's Primer) is any better than what I find at Lowe's or Sherwin-Williams, but I like the stuff. And, I think that important.

Well, I havent found any electrical tape that I can run through my plotter yet so I guess I'm stuck using vinyls.

Frog Juice was originally developed for automotive use but I guess the 40-day full cure issue is a problem for painting cars. Now I guess they figure "it's good enough for making signs so now we'll just target them."

I do like Frog Juice clear better than Krylon though, but I like Dupli-Color Clearcoat (auto touch-up clearcoat in a spray can) even better for quickie stuff I have to get out the door and of course, automotive urethanes are the top of the line for anything.

Hi, All,

I have never used Krylon, so I can't offer an opinion. Frog Juice tho' is a different matter. I have had better luck with it as a clear coat for durability than anything else. Have not used urethanes, so please don't jump on me about that. I think tho' that I have tried just about everything else at one time or other including regular varnish, spar varnish, urethane varnish, polyurethane varnish, some with added UV inhibitors and some without. None lasted more than about 2 years outdoors.
