I see that a lot of you use corel and send it to a cutter program. That's what I do. I send the file to FlexiCut. Well, my flexicut won't work correctly and even though I uninstalled and reinstalled per Scanvec Amiable suggestions, it still does not work. Anyway I asked if they have an update and they told me they did not...to update meant changing to FlexiLetter....since Flexicut has been discontinued. They want $775 for the change. Please let me know what you think.
Thanks, Garrick
PS I'm mad at ScanvecAmiable for the poor tech support also.

I don't use a bridge at all. I cut directly from Corel to my Roland plotter.
There are some drawbacks to this, like I'm limited to a 90" long cut with the Roland Driver and I have to manually setup tiled artwork and multiple small decals to be cut on one sheet, but I'm a low volume biz here anyway so that stuff doesn't really matter to me... and I rarely do anything remotely close to 90" long.
Roland's driver is setup just like another printer and makes it pretty handy for a simple setup like this.
You can also use CoCut to drive your plotter from Corel, if your plotter/driver will not work directly from Corel.

I have been using CoCut, works perfect every time. It seemed kind of klunky when I started using it but it works great with Corel, Illustrator and Freehand.

I am like Mike Pipes...and several others here...Direct from Corel to my Roland cutter. Works GREAT fer me.
Mike....My Roland driver "says" that the length of cut is set to 62.5" but I regularly cut 12 -13 feet with no problem. Maybe your Printer/cutter has an internal length limitation...I know that my CM 24 has "virtually" no limitation on length of cut. You just have to set the length in the "printer setup" window.

I'm another one who cuts direct from Corel, In my situation I haven't seen anything I can't do to make me spend the bucks for a bridge, and after all the problems I read about with all the sign specific software on the BB, there is NO WAY I would spend those kinda bucks. Sure, I cuss Corel at times, but I think I paid $70, how pi**ed can I get?

Dave, I forget what the exact length limit is on the machine, but I kinda remember it being 150ft, a whole roll of film!
When I set the length in the driver settings (Same as Print Setup in Corel) it maxes out at 90".. if I try to set it higher, it drops back to 90".. not a big deal, like I said I never cut anything that big... well, I do but it's very rare.
I used to cut directly from Illustrator as well without a bridge, but for some odd reason Illustrator just up and quit working with the roland.. I probably just need to reinstall the roland driver.
Anyways, like George said, since I can do what I need to do without the bridge, I dont see the dire need for the bridge.

Mike, There is a secret to getting a Roland to cut long lengths. We cut 16' wavey stripes for a bus on our PC-60. The secret is to change the dpi in the print setup window from 600 dpi down to 150 dpi. Don't ask me why but it works.

Laura, hehehe gotta love computers (confusers) dontchya? I'll have to play around with the settings some and see if I can tweak it.. My machine is a PNC-5000.. I've thought about going up to a larger plotter though, probably another Roland so I can keep on keepin' on without a bridge. If not another Roland (already have two Rolands - gotta love 'em) Summa is my next choice.
Dave, yes, simplicity is so nice. You should see the look on the other local sign-nerds' faces when I tell them I cut directly from Corel without any 3rd party software. They cannot believe it.. til they see it work!
