I woke up to a John Prine Birthday special on the radio this morning. He's 55 today. The radio is still on, and they are having a great John Prine marathon going, along with inserts of details on his life between takes.

Alot of foot tapping going on around here this morning already!

I would have put an "OT" next to this post header, but I do believe there are alotta good old fashioned John Prine fans out there amoung us signfolk. And ya just know good music always has a place in a signshop!

Great music, terrific words!

Nettie

Okay, so how 'bout a little trivia question for a sign of our current times? Can you complete this verse? I'll give you half of it.
"Your flag decal won't get you into heaven anymore. They're already overcrowded from ... "

Well ... George Perkins? ... Steve Shortreed? ... Mark Fair? ... anybody?

. . . from your dirty little war.

One of my favorites is

We are living in the future.
You ask me how I know?
I read it in the papers
And we're all driving rocket ships
and talking with our minds
and wearing turquois jewelry
and standing in soup lines.

Happy Birthday Johnboy

So if you're walking down the street sometime
and spot some hollow ancient eyes
please don't just pass em by and stare
as if you didn't care
say hello in there
hello

30 years and that song still brings goosebumps to me

Thought you might want to know Nettie that John Prine will be performing in Jacksonville the 19th of this month. He'll be at the Florida Theatre. It's a really nice old art deco movie theatre. We just went up last week to see Alison Krauss and Union Station. It's not that far away from here.

from Donald and Lydia:

"Hot love, cold love, no love at all...
a portrait of guilt is hung on the wall...

Nothin is wrong and nothin is right
Donald and Lydia made love that night

Love

They made love in the mountains, they made love in the streams
They made love in the valleys, they made love in their dreams...
But when they was finished there was nothin to say,
'Cause mostly they made love from 10 miles away

But dreamin just comes natural,
like the first breath from a baby...
Like sunshine feeding daisies,
like the love hidden deep in your heart."

OK so was this the first musical reference to phone sex or were they just dreamin? :-)
