I've finally made the decision to upgrade my PC-60 to a large format inkjet printer/cutter. Received my Roland CJ-500 on Friday and couldn't wait to try it out. Rolled it into my office and had a bit of fun...easy to work with so far.....getting trained on it this week and 61" laminator is coming next week...pumped up ready to go...makes the blood flow a little quicker. The printing quality is something else....

Hey Mario,

When the flatbed printers come down in price a little, thats where we will invest our money.

I want to print 4 x 8 sheets of rigid material, like Omega board and aluminum, as well as banners.

However, we will watch the BB for your cheers or jeers on your new toy.

Once you get the feel of it, could you post your actual cost (out of pocket expense for materials) and the time it takes to print a 48 x 96 inch full color job site sign. The kind I have in mind are those that show the architech's full color rendering on the sign as well as the contractors name and when the opening dates are...that type of sign.

Then I want to know how much trouble it is to clean the print heads or whatever, how long they last and how much it costs to replace them.

And thirdly, I thought the inks nowdays was 3 year outdoor WITHOUT lamination....whats up with that?

I want to know these things before I upgrade to the Edge 2, because if it really is better, will keep the Edge 1 till it dies and go your route.

Thanks for the info!

Oh, and one thing more...are you going to be the only one in the area with this printer? Will you market to other sign shops, or find new markets? or just use it for modern sign shop use, like the normal banners, vehicle graphics and the like?
