I wonder why it is that so many of us come her to talk signs, politics, cats, dogs and opinions on signs, piricing, customers, the news, politics etc.... why is t that the Portfolio page is visited so infrequently, when attending a live meet we discuss signs, we talk about related and non related stuff, and one of the most fun is the portfolio table, showing our work and being able to talk about it and critique it, and ask questions about how we did the job. you would think in a business that is so much visual, that pictures would say more than a 1,000 words? I see way too many 1,000+ word posts and far too few pictures! lets go heads post up some pictures!

Ken I am with you on this....If anyone has not viewed any of Ray Hill's postings ( along with several other talented "Heads"). Then they have missed out on a very viable segement of this business. Whether you accomplish the end result with a brush, spray gun or vinyl cutter,,,,We are all in the same "business" In admiring others work,,,,maybe we can appreciate their efforts ,,and just possibly see something in what they are doing that might be useful to each of us in our own efforts to design something that will sell. I think the Portfolio page gets visited quite a bit. I just don't think many post responses. As for posting pics, I've not really been able to upload any pics until this weekend without cross-linking from other sites, especially since Photopoint started charging (yeah, I know....I'm a cheapskate). I hope to be able to post some pics of our shop's work soon.
I wonder if there is a way for Steve & Barb to get the UBB to indicate the number of visitors to a particular page in the same way that the BB at www.4edgetalk.com does. Just a thought.

I would say, if you see something you like give the artist an "attaboy" or "attagirl" or if you see something you like and wonder how its done...ask! that is what we are here for. And if you haven't been over there in a while stop by you might even see your own stuff there!

I havent even been to my own web iste in 6 months (dont know if its still there), a free site of course.
To post pics on the portfolio page you gotta know the code (which ive forgotten), and also get the code for where the pic is at. I guess i'm the lazy type to do all that.

Hey Heads, Getting better but no flaming threads over there lets talk about some of these photos.... Hey Rick, Steve has made it easy by adding the keys at the bottom of the page just click on image, then paste the link, presto! no codes needed just cut and paste.

I visit the Portfolio page here and there, and I would also like to post some pictures of work I've done, but every time I go back to try and learn how to do it, I just throw in the towel after reading through all of the steps.
On my website, I have sort of a "website for idiots" format, and all of the HTML? is "pre-done" and I just load the pix from my hard drive, or whatever disk the photo might be from, as well as any graphics, etc. and I just enter in the size I would like it to be, and PRESTO, it's loaded! I like the simplicity of it.
I've been so busy learning about the 2 new software programs, a different plotter, an Edge, and just keeping up with everything that's going on in life, that I've sent the POSTING PIC's project to the back burner. I've gone back to the archives to read Donna's information about posting pics, but I after looking at all of it, I just plain give up. If there was someone to help me through it step by step looking over my shoulder, I'd give it a try!

I think it's great to see others work. What fun!! However I do have a problem when somebody asks for advice, and then gets pi**ed off when their work is critiqued. I like to hear what others think, and expect an honest opinion. But to hear 'you rock' over and over when 'maybe' the design COULD use a little help is silly. But then.......I am brutally honest and that gets you in trouble at times!

I Agree Cheryl! I posted a sign I made a while back, everyone said it was cool....I knew it wasn't, but figured maybe they knew better.....I showed same pic to Rick Sacks when I visited him a few months back....
lol, HE had a totally different opinion on it!
What he pointed out to me, and his advice on how he would have done it made perfect sense, and I learned something that will make a difference on the next one!
I have a lot to learn and truly welcome a constructive critique.....I may not always like it (hehe), but if I want to learn, I will get over it!
I know the learning curve of new equip. can be time consuming, but at the end of the day it is fun to spend time on the BB.
If you want to post pics, it is really very easy once you have done it. If you want to post a pic from your website that is the easiest.
Say your site is called kurt.com & your image is called sign.jpg the full path for that location is http://www.kurt.com/sign.jpg The only html code you need is about 11 keystrokes but you don't even have to type them. Look below the box where you enter text when posting. There are 10 Instant UBB Code buttons. Click on the IMAGE button. You will get 2 bracketed image codes. Enter your image location http://www.kurt.com/sign.jpg between the 2.
If your image is not on your website, the only other step is to upload it to your server with your ftp program. It doesn't have to become part of the site, no links need to point to it.
I don't know if that is more confusing or less, but good luck.

Thanks Doug for the info. Barb also e-mailed me almost instantly after my initial post on this thread with information about the instant UBB code. I checked these messages before work, and I'm not sure I'll have time to try it today, but I'm excited to give it a try soon. Thanks to all who helped!
