Any suggestions on mounting cutout letters (mdo)to a building front with 3 1/2" foam stucco siding?

Couple of ideas... I had some MDO lettering (cut out) that I had to mount to a customer's large stone that he had placed as a decoration in his front yard. These were cut out rather than using an existing Gemini font, the guy wanted something other than what was available.

I mounted the letters in a way similar to the way you mount Plastic molded lettering. I used 3/16" studs. Drilled holes partially into the backs of the letters then threaded the stud into the MDO. I also sqirted a little adhesive into the hole prior to threading. Mark out where the studs meet the surface, drill, squirt some silicone in the hole and insert the studded letter.

These have been up for 2 years so far without any problem.

The other thought would be to cut out a spacer for each stud, glue the spacer to the back of the letter and then thread the stud... this would give a little more MDO to bite into. This would also create a little depth to the lettering.

Good Luck.

I just mounted my first gemini letters to stucco using GE Silicone glue. I would glue spacers on and glue the letters up & hold them up with masking tape until the glue sets( about an hour). My partner experimented on the other side of the sign and added extra pads and used double stick tape( the thick kind, disk shaped) and skipped using the masking tape. We read both these methods on this site quite a while ago. He mounted corian plaques 7" by 7" using the double stick tape and GE glue about a year ago and they had to use piano wire to cut it off when they wanted to move it.
