Hi guys,

I recently posted a question regarding the pros and cons of adding a first employee. I got lots of great feedback and had decided to hire.

Just thought some of you might be interested to know that my new employee stopped by the day before she was supposed to start to tell me that she was moving and couldn't work for me after all.

That same day, we found out our bid on an acreage was rejected and somebody else bought it. It was just on the edge of town, new house, double attached garage and a 2-bay shop in the yard. Perfect for my situation, but just not meant to be.

I guess the sign gremlins are telling me to stay where I am for now, and just keep pluggin along, alone in my basement! I guess set-backs like this do make you look at the bright side though, and appreciate what I do have. Just think of the money I'll save in mortgage payments and wages!!!

Geez, I'm getting rich just thinkin about it!!

Sue

Do you really think interpreting circumstances is a valid means of determining what's meant to be?

in my experiance ....things will work out for what they are supposed to....you can keep trying...nothing says for you to stop....but these things that have passed you, were not ment to be.....and they are "water under the bridge".....so do as the water does...move on...
examples: wife wanted to move from sarasota to pensacola.....took us 2 yrs to do it. i wanted the mobile sign shop, took almost 2 years to find and buy the right truck....wanted another plotter, prefered a PNC-1100 OR 960, i bid on a pnc-1100 on ebay and was out bid, well the seller emailed me and asked if i wanted the plotter because the guy that outbid me backed out. so thing will happen in their own time.

Whenever I have lost out on something I really really thought I wanted
(there must be exceptions but I can't remember one right now)
whatever came into my life and took the place of it was superior and more correct than what I had envisioned.
Simply keep plugging away at searching for what you need - or at least be a place where you are preparing so you can meet an opportunity head on and don't miss it.

That's so easy to say when its not your loss, and I understand you just had two disappointments.
Keep your eyes and ears open.
What is meant to be will come.

Wow Suelynn, you've had a tough week! Sorry for those two losses.

Incidently, dreams do come true. Only 10 years ago I had alot of extravagant dreams. By working hard, and with a little bit of luck, I'm living in alot of those dreams right now. All of them were uphill battles, but I'm not a quitter.

Whenever I have a disappointment in my life, the frustration turns into energy and I move mountains to turn things in the direction I want. Keep your eyes open for those opportunities. If you have a goal in mind, you will make it happen. Those two incidents were only small tests. THINK BIG!!

Everything happens for a reason and there are no coincidences (IMO). You will look back in a couple of years and know exactly why you didn't get that house. Have a great hump day. Woo hoo!

I agree totally with all of you. I am a big believer in trusting that if you are patient, the right things will eventually happen.

I actually almost got into the sign business about 10 years ago, but it just didn't feel right. Then, three years ago, everything came together and I just about literally fell into it, & I haven't looked back in 3 years.

Although I was dissapointed at the double whammy, I'm not going to stew about it. It really did make me look at the current situation with a more positive attitude and take a minute to appreciate at what I have and how this business has taken off in 3 years.

Thanks for all your support. I really appreciate it!!

Joe, I hope you got the deal you wanted - I've been outbid by the sellers themselves, driving the price up to the max, then they contact the highest guy and offer the deal. It's a game - caveat emptor. All they need is two e-mail addys, or 1 friend

Sue,

I've had sooooo many "almosts" that I got so excited over and thought at the time, they would be so perfect, but, something bizzarre always snatched it away. I can tell you now, that I have my "WOW!" it's not all for naught.

When I got disappointed, I did the same thing, you're doing now and when the next "almost" surfaced, I was able to study it with a more educated attitude.

You'll know the one that's meant to be, because at the last minute...it looks like you might lose it and you'll have to search inside yourself and decide if you'd be willing to sacrifice it or not. (this is the point when you realize how obssessed you've been about it, realize it may be past the healthy level and then offer to give it up gracefully...just so you won't get depressed if you lose it.)

All the sudden, once your fears of losing it are over, it falls in your lap and all the people involved, realtors, etc. are wondering why it's taking you so long to sign the papers (...cuz yer jumping around the room like somebody just turned you loose from the funny farm...in total disbelief, your magic moment has finally arrived. Your breathing might be a little erratic as well, hahahaha.)

But, that's okay! All the trials and bashed almosts, are getting you primed for the magic moment and you cannot conceive at this point how happy you will be! Just let the Big Guy be your realtor...and don't forget to tell Him thank you ahead of time! (That's what seals the deal...faith!)

Good advice from everyone, dream big! Why beg for a play pen when your dreams are big enough to fill a whole acre? ...hehehe!
