Hi Heads, (especially Pierre)SongPainter is in the mail and on its way to Montanna. Take good care of her! A great deal of time, love and effort is on that CD.
We still may have a couple more songs to send in,
but SongPainter is ready for the mixing artists!
(Pierre: any last minute cuts will either arrive at your place by the first week in November, or they wont! It could go either way. SongPainter needs to be born and find its way into the hearts of all who are "Keepers of the Craft")
For the rest of you who have been so patient, we are working on a form to download, fill out and send in with a check so you can reserve your copy of Songpainter.
The way I forsee it to work is like this:
The USA and Canada will get to order copies first. Canadians will send their order forms to Steve and Barb, the Mayor and First Lady of Letterville, while USA orders will be taken by me.
Once the disks are made, we will hook up with the Shortreeds and give them a box of CD's, and the donations (money) minus expenses. Then he can send out CD's to you folks in Canada. The donations go into the Letterville Community Chest, which may then get donated to the Red Cross.
For those in OZ and Britian / Ireland, we will start working on a trustworthy contact in those countries to order from. Then we will ship them a box of CDs they can distrubute.
==================
For new ones looking on, a brief history:
A few of us hanging around the street corners of Letterville (this web board) got to learn of each others musical talents and interests.
Somebody came up with the idea we should create a CD of all these sign folk's music. To make it even more unique, we decided that the music had to be original and carry a theme about the sign industry, in some way...or even just hinted at in the title of the song.
We all agreed nobody would get paid, the rights to the music would remain the property of the artist and www.letterhead.com would let us organize and promote this project with no advertising fees attached.
Once the project was completed, the CD would be offered to those interested in making a donation to the upkeep of this website. The new twist is that the donations be given to a greater cause.
After a year of uncertainty, the CD, named SongPainter (sign music by sign people), has met the minimum requirement of 12 songs and 45 minutes of really, really good music, well written and professionally recorded. It has been reviewed at 3 Letterhead meets, and everyone who has heard it have testified that it is a First Class production.
One of the leading sign trade magazines, namely, Sign Builder Illustrated has commented on our efforts (they reviewed a prototype preview CD of this music)
It is also history in the making, and the first ever project of this kind by a group of independent craftsmen.
Many were invited to share in the making of this CD, few actually made it a reality. Sign music by sign people will not end with this project.
If you think you can contribute original music about the craft of sign making, we welcome your contribution for SONGPAINTER 2002.
Thank you all so much to make this project go from a simple idea to an enjoyable piece of art!
Now we hope all of you will show your support by
making a donation to obtain a copy of this CD.
(suggested donation will be around $15 USA for each copy) and the funds will go to help people devestated by terrorism.
It is the worldwide "Letterhead Spirit of Sharing" that unites us. It is time to show the world the Letterhead Movement can assit those in crisis too! Lets Do it!
