I was wondering if any of you use a pricing guide of any type. The franchise sign shops in my area have a nice little guide for pricing their work. I know that many have said that the sign pricing guides that are on the market are normally quite a bit off on the high side. Does anyone have any ideas of how I can create my own guide? I have a good idea of what I want to charge but I would like to organize it a bit better.

Thanks

Richard,

I think the most important thing in pricing signs is to structure your hourly rate so that your overhead and profit are covered.

Jeff Cahill wrote a fantastic article about this in the May/June 1989 SignCraft Magazine, that any sign shop should study. It includes an excellent worksheet to figure your rate.

Get it here:

Above all, have fun and don't underbid your work! If you do you will end up working long hours and making little money.
