Hello there,

I bought a striper last week and want to start practicing. I have only pulled stripes with a liner or a quill and they were short. It has been umpteen years since I tried my hand at this. I know nothing about stripers and wondered if I should trim it. I have seen the pros swear by trimming, and some that don't. I also wondered what type of care they need different than qulls. Any suggestions?
(I am truly excited about all the awesome designs I see from many of you, and hope I can
get some time into practice!

Deb-bie, swords need very little trimming if any at all, and only at the tip of the hair. Daggers can be trimmed under the belly by using a razor blade.

Practice is what you need, later on you can learn to trim if its needed. Its definately not your top priority.
Taking care of stripers is the same for any brush.

Design work can be had a number of ways with and outliners as well, learning to twist the brush takes some practice but its really not that hard if designs are what you want to learn. A keen eye and wrist coordination is a must for near perfection work and after all thats what pinstriping is all about.
