I have a customer with lot's of trucks and heavy equipment who is getting ready to do a name change, they will want all the old stuff removed quickly, hopefully by their shop employees and not me. Has any one here used the large eraser wheels that fit on a buffer? Or would a propane torch do a better job. Also they have some lettering on some crane booms that is painted on any tips on removing the paint without affecting the factory paint?
thanks Mark

Hi Mark, We use 3M's woodgrain and strip remover, spray it on wait a minute and peal the vinyl right off, then we use Rapid Remover to remove the adhesive. Works like a dream. We did a 25ft trailer all 4 sides, in about 3 hours. Hope this helps Terry

I stripped at least half a dozen 53' trailers and three or so 26' trucks with the help of my girlfriend (read: employee). I bought a 'weed-burner' off of ebay, which is a large torch you hook to a grill propane tank. I know guys who do blacktop and tar work use them, and apprently are used for burning weeds as well. I was stripping at least one truck per tank, if not two. The vinyl was about 10 years old, and still somehwat of a pain in the ass, but the smaller 26 footers were only a few years old and came off with no problems whatsoever. We then used rapid remover to get any extra adhesive off. The weedburner throws out a huge footand a half long flame, and you stand back and heat up a huge area in a few seconds, then peel away. I got mine for $40 off of ebay, though if you get them through a propane supply place you will probably pay $100 or so.

We use XXL Decal Remover, you should be able to get it at any Sign Suppliier... All you do is spray it on, leave it for about 30 min. and then you peel it right off, with most if not all the glue. The only thing is is, it's very toxic, so be sure to wear a mask and gloves, it works great. Neil

Play it safe around trucks and heavy equipment. Use a good heat gun and Rapid Remover after. As far as removing the paint....hinge a sheet of plastic wrap, kitchen type, at the bottom of the lettering. Spray only the letters with Easy Off oven cleaner, lift the wrap over the letters and tape, wait 15 minutes and wipe off.

Tyler, does that mean your girlfriend is a stripper? couldn't resist LOL
It's looking like the company will do the removing (thank god) I think I'll tell them to go with the 3M stuff or the pressure washer/steam cleaner, they probably have one in their shop to clean the heavy equipment.
Roger, do you have samples of Rapid Remover in gallons :-)
Thanks for all the advice guys Mark
