It's finally happened. My spam blocking list is bigger than my address book. What's your status? Sorry Steve, didn't mean to get in the polling business, just interested.

If your spam-block list is bigger than your address book, then it's time to do 3 things:
1. Browse to CAUCE and learn to protect yourself. Pay particular attention to "munging" your address.
2. Contact your ISP and get a new address.
3. Notify the people you want to hear from.
Meanwhile, register with SpamCop and abuse.net, and maybe even download Sam Spade. Total retaliation for every single turd. No, you're not gonna have revenge on vermin or teach manners to cockroaches. But you will see results, and it sounds like you could use the encouragement until you get this thing fixed.

I've set up a junk hotmail account. I give it to those pesky websites that want your email address (the ones you KNOW just want to spam you). I never check it, just get bored sometimes and go in to delete everything. Somehow I had managed to get my main email to some spammers. Changed my ISP and thus my email address and they're all gone.
Blocking the spammers doesn't really help. Most of the time they use a bogus email address or their email service figures out what they're doing and shuts them down. Then they just go to another bogus email or a new service.
One more point with the hotmail thing. I'm not sure if Outlook offers this or not. If you have a hotmail account, you can set your security level. One of the higher levels will only allow mail that has your address in the TO line to hit your inbox. If you are a COPY TO or it's to undisclosed recipient (spammers use these) it goes automatically to your garbage.

After 4 years with the same ISP & email address (starting from my 1st year on-line when I didn't know better about not giving out my address to stupid websites) I get more then my share of spam. Although after asking around, I guess 7 or 8 a day isn't really that bad, compared to some people. I never discovered a spam blocking option. I did finally figure out how to filter everything not addressed to me into a folder I named SPAM. I look in and check out the sender before trashing & pick out a few messages from friends who send me a "COPY TO"

Man, I'm SO SICK of unwanted SPAM!!!! Wish I could send them ALL viruses!!!
I'll try those suggestions, but please explain these two to me.....

Oh, one this I've done as an experiment... I put my email to address in here as heyu@... That way if I get mail addressed to heyu@ I know it was picked up from the BB.

Thanks I'll be taking some of that advice. Mike, the problem arises from the websites owners that think they can make a fortune on banners and refernce links. I had to quit visiting a racing site because, I got tired of the e-mail and window opening there. Just how many time do I have to see web cams and casino ads? The place was all flash and no content. Then e-mails started coming.
