Letterville, my town. At the town meeting place we find those who park their Beemers on one side of the street and those who park their bikes on the other side. As you walk in the door you find yourself being hit upside your head and asked to shut up and stand in the back from those who haven't the experience but yet want to pick your brain when the time is right, and they pick the time. My post was not political or religous but yet some found the time to make it sound if it were, it did not in anyway put down another letterhead or pinhead. What I said was as truthful as I could see it without hurting anyone, after all it was only about a number and in this case #1192.
Persons come here to ask questions and get answers while some come just to answer or help those in need of help. I have been on this BB for years and have given my expertise from what I have been doing almost all my life. I have helped many through my website and hardly asked for help regarding my craft and thats because I experiment and learn from my mistakes. I do not, not search for the answers until I have used up all my knowledge before I ask for help unlike those who seem to take our answers for granted.
In the past I was a merchant and have also brought other merchants to Letterville.
It seems I may have a different attitude than some of you but thats what make the world go round. I don't take for granted anothers experience and try to make a living off it. I say what I know to be the truth and if you can't handle the truth than thats not my problem. For those who think rather than find out all they can before they post, shame on you! All my life I have paid my dues and continue to do so. I have never gotten anything for nothing and always gave something in return. If any of you feel I owe you something for what you have given me, just email me or call me at 541.956.1855 and I'll be happy to discuss this in person. Respectfully, Joey Madden

Joey, I couldn't tell if you were seriously taking issue with your number. The end of your post did seem to indicate some real issues but overall I thought I detected a sense of humor.
Most of the next 8 or 10 replies were people attacking you for your feelings. In their defense all, I think, they felt you owed them was to be happy. That of course is ludicrous.
I had thought that the previous week of ugly behavior had settled down along with the amount of emotionally charged issues (like political & religous opinions), but suddenly another firestorm of BS breaks out from an innocent little gripe. I must admit I was torn between asking your respondents to grow up, or putting a stop on the $50 check that is probably half way to Ontario right now.
I guess I'm going to believe that emotions are still running high even as posts are returning to BB or sign trade topics, and it will improve.
I guess I wanted to reply now partly because I didn't like what was happening on that thread, and because as a new visitor (member soon) I hope that I can add to my 10 years of sign experience, by reading this board. So far most of what I learned in the sandbox in kindergarten is what's being re-hashed here.

Joey ol'boy, Your ability to bounce back and remain in communication not only conveys your commitment to relationship but is also a mark of maturity. It's OK to identify and discuss what troubles you. Thanks for sticking with us. As far as the numbers go, perhaps they should be hidden, since they convey a false representation of Letterville seniority. They bear no distinction between members and visitors or merchants, nor who's been here since Adam, or who has been here and left and returned. I'm glad you're here!

Joey....take it with a grain of salt! I don't know if you were joking or mad, but it doesn't give a bunch the right to attack, like they did!
This BB has a bunch of people who are always here to help others...and...unfortunately, a buch of others that contibute nothing, except to attack others.
If you think back a bit, I'm sure you can rememeber names that NEVER give any advice or help, only sour comments! I don't make a distinction between Visitors and Residents, because there are both in that catagory!
As far as deleting offensive posts...ya damn betcha! It doesn't matter how the subject starts out, when it goes rotten, then it's time to delete it!
Hopefully, Steve will find a way to delete offensive posts out of the string in a subject, without having to dump the whole thing!
Just my humble opinion!

Ditto Si! I've looked at certain past posts from certain individuals and 9 out of 10 are of negative nature. Really can't be happy in life with an attitude like that! Shoulder chips is what I call 'em.
I believe in this board and trust that the negatives will weed themselves out.

Joey, In case you couldn't tell from my post that i was kidding, I was. Sorry if it upset you , the post to me seemed trivial so I responeded with humor , sometimes humor can not be interpeted through a typed message, that is why we have the emotions on the bottom of the page my sugestion would be to use these to convey how you are feel when creating a post, that way pepole will know how to take it. Does that make sense

Its amazing to me how easily something said in jest can be misunderstood. What amazes me more is how eager some of us here are to assume the worst in a person.
Too many hotheads with thin skin and thick heads.
I think we need to start giving each other the benefit of a doubt for a change.
Even better....If you don't have anything nice to say or contribute to this wonderful site without personally attacking someone - shut up.

Whether fortunate or unfortunate I never got to read any post after the Nettsters because it was all downhill, taken out of text and deleted from there.
I never feel obligated to tell the truth as the truth cannot be contained to such a position and yet when told most think of it as raving or venting. The number thingie was to simply to bring some humor unto this board after such a tragedy which brought tears to my eyes for so many persons I hadn't met. Persons here are always ready to jump on the bandwagon to issues which mean nothing as if their reply is going to change another persons way of thinking and that seems like a joke in itself. As I said, my first post wasn't political or religous but yet had something to do with this site and the letterhead movement. Being numbered as if we all aren't numbered enough throughout our life is a friggin joke to me, just like the cliques which takes each one of us and puts us into a catagory as if we are being profiled like the police do to criminals.
So Joey, CJ and others that agree with each other are cast from a different mold and that mold isn't accepted as true letterheads because for some reason or another we tend to be who we are both on this board and in reality. So most times we cannot join in on your conversation without you being able to see us in a transparent way, So I guess the answer is that we are just too opaque.
Before I came to this board many never used an ultrasonic cleaner for your tools or thought about using Rapid-Remover for cleaning brushes. Flow enhancers weren't even part of your routine when doing brush work while the Killerkart was a dream y'all had, to be able to replace the ol'TV cart with something that you actually could work from. This reminds me of an ol'story bout the guy who did things nobody else would dare to try cause they were afraid to take the chance and didn't want their freinds to think they were any different then them.

Joey, "thats what makes the world go round" Its the nature of the beast and no one is going to change anyone, we must be the best we all can be(and learn to find happiness with ourselves), then maybe we can show some to someone else !!
If you don't get along with the neighbor, then find something else to do when he cuts his grass(or smokes it)whatever.
