Anybody ever airbrush auto air onto enamel receptive banners. Does it hold up or on? Anything special need to be done other than the additives? Thanks

Not sure about auto air on the banner itself, but I did get nice results of auto air on the vinyl letters. I'd want you to know though that after about 7 months there does seem to be some signifigant fading on the parts that see the most direct sunlight.

I'm very curious, does anyone know what kind of paint we use that will last?
specifically on these surfaces?...
vinyl
vehicles (including but not limited to...helmets, bikes, boats...anything with a factory finish made for out door use)
Plywood
Metal sign blanks
coroplast
I'm going to have to re-invest in some paint, as mine was misplaced/lost when I moved. I'd hate to buy a cabinet full of something that won't make it in today's environment.
To me both Enamels or Acrylics on banners will work fine. Each have the value of stretching and contracting. One is oil and the other is waterbased..One repeals and the other absorbs.
Auto Air is a Acrylic base paint with all it additives.
But to airbrush on any given materials you have to realize this is done in a fine misting of paint.
After the fact what you have to do is give your artwork a good clear coating over the graphics. Remembering that curing time is needed.
Because it's a banner you should use soft plyable clearcoating 1-Shot UV#4005 Krylon #41310-11 Frog Juice # (I don't know). Auto clear I don't use. (Not on this type of project)
Clearing is important! Has to be done on Airbrush Work.
But most likely if its an outdoor banner the weather and all will beat it to death before the break down of your artwork. Still Clear it!,if it's truly a Enamel Receptive Banner.
Good Luck

It's done! The banner is a football "run-through" velcro banner. The paint went on well and I cleared it. I EVEN USED A BRUSH!!! (That would have never happened before Duck Soup) I actually got paid for a job that included no vinyl!
I used the Auto Air with the additives, then cleared with Frog Juice. My only concern is that this banner will only be used a few minutes each week, ten or twelve weeks of the year. It will be abused when its used. I hope the paint holds up. I actually did it for another shop.
Thanks for the tips!

Like I said I did it at another sign shop. The first thing I did was pulled out my bottle of Rapid Prep and the shop owner said "What's that?" I could not believe he had never heard of it!

Your last posting or question was about a (Ribbon banner or Gate banner.
Well the only thing I can say is.. If he asking for a time frame warranty. Ask him next of the paint warranty on his car.
If the players of the team Breaks through,Punches down,Rips to the side, Walks or Runs over it Etc.Etc.
It's like going to the parking lot and kicking the side of his car 24 times. will it stand up to it NO! A good break away system or Manual control banner will last longer (Someone on the side lines controlling the banner.)
After fact storage in good size sauna tubing.
This type of banner will be good for touch-up repairs and costs in the future as well as replacements.
It won't last forever.
If it's hanging it the window I'll give it warranty. Outdoors with the Wild Animals & Winds!!!! NAH!
LOL
