KINGMAN, Ariz. – The Federal Aviation Administration ordered a private plane down near Kingman Saturday because the pilot hadn’t filed a flight plan with the FAA. The pilot, who is from California, had been camping in Prescott for a week and didn’t know of the attacks on the east coast, Mohave County Sheriff’s Deputies detained the pilot as he worked out the issue with an FAA representative via phone. “While he was one the telephone with a Federal Aviation Administration Representative, that representative said to him ‘By the way, we had F-16’s tailing you.’ Apparently he wasn’t even aware there were other aircraft, certainly military aircraft watching him,” said Steve Johnson with the Sheriff’s Department. No charges were filed in the incident.

A few years back, when the original George was vice-president, he came here to Grants Pass to do some steelhead fishing on our famous Rogue River. Naturally the secret service was all over the place.
Well as fate would have it, the same day George was on the the river, a crusty old miner from way back up one of the feeder creeks, happened to head into town for supplies, and he had a 30-30 hanging in the rear window of his pickup. (Where it always was).
He no sooner had turned onto the blacktop road, than the secret service pounced on him from all directions. They questioned the old guy for 3 days. What seemed to disturb the G-men the most, was that the old miner didn't have the slightest idea who "George Bush" was. They also couldn't quite grasp the idea that "you always took your gun when you went to town"
