This is a poem written by my brother deticated to the brave members of FDNY whos lives were lost in tuesdays horrific event. Blue Tuesday
A crisp clear September morning
The station was quiet until the warning
Unaware of what they'd meet
They donned their gear from head to feet
A rush of adrenaline
Some twisting of nerves
And as always
A well hidden fear
Boarding the rig with no time to spare
Another evil approached them
The second by air
Climbing the stairs with their hand lines and axes
They weeded their way through the exiting masses
Onward and upward to reach their duel
The fighters could not beat the hot burning fuel
The buildings consumed by high temperature flames
Dropped to the streets like thunderous rains
As the dust settled after the fall
Our heroes had taken their final call
If ever asked of the selfless acts they commit
They'd give the standard reply
"Someone has to do it"!
