A salesman called on me declaring their product superior to what I use. He said that Avery and 3M are class 1 products and the Calon II that I've been using is class 2. So, what's the real skinny?

Hi Rick. The real skinny is that salesmen will tell you anything. Whenever they do so, ask them for hard statistical data that substantiates their claims, and the organization that conducted the tests/studies etc. Also who paid for the studies/testing. If they can't or won't provide such, then such claims must be taken as unsubstantiated rumour.

This "class 1" and "class 2" stuff is new to me. I think I'd ask for documentation and/or call the respective technical departments and ask them. If it turns out that the salesman is full if "it", I'd post his name and the name of his employer here as well as send a letter to his boss.
