I'm getting ready to letter a concrete wall. Looking for advise on preping and priming. I plan on using 1-shot, or should I use something else. Thanks

Hi Dawn,

There are literally thousands of concrete walls around the country lettered with 1-Shot. I've been doing them for over 50 years. Just be sure that the lettering surface is dry and free from dust and dirt. The only common problem you might encounter is if the wall has been previously painted and the paint is peeling. You also can have a problem with new concrete that hasn't cured yet.

A white fitch or cutter is the usual weapon to use for lettering on concrete. If the weather is hot or the job is in direct sun, you can slow the drying down by adding a bit of boiled linseed oil or Penetrol. It also makes the 1-Shot easier to brush.

I'm always concerned about the tar and exhaust build up on walls near major roadways, any suggestions on cleaning them off before lettering...
