Has anyone here ever picked up LOWRIDER magazine?
It's a custom car mag.
Boy do they have some nice artwork in there. Striping, airbrushed murals, etcetera.
I haven't bought the mag yet, but it's a good way to pass time when you're in the checkout line.

Ok, Patty........do you also eat grapes and peanuts as you walk through the produce section??
My son gets that magazine. It's always had some of the finest pinstriping around. The illustrations are finely airbrushed, but sometimes the anatomy of the subject matter leaves a bit to be desired.

When I was about 15 or 16 lowriders were real popular around here. I didn't have the money for one so I bought the magazines. One of them had a design contest for graphics, ithad a blank template of a lowrider truck. I got my mom to make me a couple of hundred copies, got some pencils, markers, and crayons and went to work! Possibly one of the reasons I'm in this biz now! I wonder if I still have all those drawings?

I've been reading(lookin at the pics)since my son got into the lowrider scene 6 yrs ago. We have an 83 Buick Regal behind the barn waiting for space in the garage for a 'frame-off' restoration, gonna do the body drop on it, air bag the suspension, figure it to be a 4 to 6 yr project. My part is the space for the work and the body finish, murals and graphics, etc. Oh, and some money too...hence the time frame! At the time of my son,Chris' death he was the co-founder of a local low-rider club. I had no idea of the scope of this thing until 70+ low-riders parked in the church lot at the funeral. My wife and I have become 'parent-figure' advisors to about a dozen young men and women since then. We've been adopted by these kids. It amazes me, we are old boring people if ya ask me, but these guys come around just the same! I'll get a picture posted of the car as it is now, and follow up as we progress. BTW, I also check out the Sport Truckin mag.

Bill I just recently started a club called Low Intentions ... we grew from 4 memebers 2 weeks ago to 12 members this week! I believe that these guys/girls have the same passion to work on their cars as we do in the sign industry ... we have had so much fun since I got this thing started and its only been 2 weeks! That was a very nice story about your son. Its amazing how people with the same likes come together in a time of need. Im sure hes still rollin around up there with the body scrapin and the bass up! I was involved with a club when I lived in St Louis - Well Grounded - slammed vehicles - with well rounded owners. We often sponsored events to benefit charities in the area, and we always took the time to help other people, club members or not, with their vehicles.
I remember spending many nights in someone's garage having "Destruction Parties" - 2 or 3am.. with about 10 of us there cutting, grinding, welding and just havin a good time hacking up someone's car or truck. Those were the days, installing a full hydraulic or air suspension overnight.
There's definitely a "brotherhood" in the custom car/truck scene.
