I have a large paint project on a tractor trailer to price. It's a full size airbrushed mural down both sides of the truck and trailer. The customer wants it painted on in automotive base/clear but I would like to cost compare it to digital print vinyl.

What is the square foot price for top of the line print. How much to install something that size and of course, how much to design and set it up.

Also, what it the average life span for the print.

thanks;

Bevin

Hi Bevin,

I have seen digital prints as low as $4.00 a square foot, for the printing only, no set ups. But I think the resolution is more for billboard type useage.

Other digital shops charge more in the $10 to $15 per square foot. (set up is extraa and quality depends on your input. Give them crap, they print crap.

Some will offer a clear lamintation over the graphics for extra bucks to help it last longer.

Expect to replace in 3 to 4 years, especially if there is a lot of RED in the prints.
Graphics that have a lot of black and blue tend to last the longest.

Hope this helps

Call Gregory or Ad Decal (and there are others) for current sq. foot prices

I think on something like this the digital print might be more towards the lower end of the scale that Dave Draper posted, I could be wrong though..

Full size trailer.. 53' long.. both sides.. at $10/foot you're looking at $9,000 (more actually) just for the print.

I dont think you're going to get the print at any less than $4 per square foot though, that's only 2 times the material cost.

I guess it depends on the complexity of the design.
You can probably paint the whole thing with less out of your pocket and get more for the job.

$4.00 a square foot?

Geezzus I better raise my banner prices...thats what we get for simple layout.

It amazes me how someone can reproduce something picture perfect and only get
$4.00 a square foot ...are they paying attention or am I the one thinking wrong.

I think they should be getting 4 times that, when you consider what they are capable of producing. The equipment alone justifys top
dollar charges.

Just my opinion!!!
