Hi guys We've got a 4'(1200mm)wide large format printer & a very small shop so very limited storage space for the full width rolls. The shop is already set up for vinyl cutting, so we have overhead vinyl racks for smaller rolls of vinyl ( which is excellent, we also have a smaller rack next to the cutter that just holds the most commonly used colours) THE PROBLEM is we cant find a happy way to store the larger full width rolls, at the moment we just stand them vertically on the floor but every now & then they get knocked over also they tend to pick up dust & junk off the floor. I work in the shop with a lady who has a bit of trouble handling the larger rolls so if anyone has some trick to storing the large rolls of vinyl Im sure allot of us would be interested

Make a gun rack on the wall. Use broom sticks or long doweling to hold the rolls on the rack. Use some scrap banner material to make a dust cover. To do this cut to shape, adhesive velcro on the wall and banner and you have a rack that takes up about six inches of space. This keeps the dust off and the rolls out of the way. Oh yeah letter up the banner for more advertising.

I have PVC pipes the diameter of a little bigger than a 50 yd roll, cut into 14" pieces, stacked, lying on their sides. They are like "sleeves" for the rolls of vinyl. Of course the PVC pieces have to be contained on the right and left to not roll away. I have them on a shelf under a table, with endpieces of wood holding them in right and left. Has worked well for me for years.

Here's what we do. We use those slotted wall rail thingies with the brackets that stick out for holding shelves. They make the brackets out to 20" long, so they hold 30" rolls easily. We screw the vertical rail holder to the wall and space the brackets for full rolls. Easy and moveable. No? :^)

At the last shop I worked at, we built a simple island a few feet away from the wall so that we could access it from all four sides. It was a couple inches off the floor. We screwed the plastic ends that came with the rolls of vinyl down to the island 4 deep by about 8 or 10 long. These were enough to keep the rolls from falling over and kept them off the floor. If you are limited by space, it could just be maybe 2 deep and put it against the wall and put your less used material at the back.

Build your own stand for the printer that has storage underneath it for the vinyl.
I built a stand (see below) for my pnc-5000 outta 2x4 then secured one of those 16 roll wire metal racks to it.
You could do something similar, except maybe run the rolls along the length of the printer instead to save the room, and use "sleeves" at each end that allow you to remove a roll by sliding it to one side then pulling it past the sleeve on the other end.
Or even put the rolls on bearings and let the printer pull the vinyl right off the tube.

I'm assuming your printer is on it's own stand??? If it's on a table top like my plotter, I created shelves as deep as my plotter to hold the large rolls on their sides. I use a piece of scratched up vinyl or backing paper to cover the roll up so the vinyl won't scratch while on it's side.
I love storing them this way. No protruding big rolls to look at, just the ends showing with the rest hidden on shelving. And taking up no more room space, as I have the table anyway.
