I have a interesting customer who just purchased a large apartment complex that is very accurately in the architectural spirit of Williamsburg with many interesting signs on MDO and ? that are about past their prime. Unfortunately, several of them have been replaced over the years with a variety of 'old' looking signs, but not completely original looking. (Don't think they had Model A's and flat straw hats back then.) I have to replace many of these (maybe 20 or so) with fairly accurate Williamsburg-looking MDO signs and am wondering if anyone has any input on what they really should look like, colors, and fonts. Did they ever use a script? Was everything all caps-roman with pointy serifs? Did they use curved lettering base lines or toplines? Any asymetry? What center images were ok? Your help will be much appreciated.
