Jeesh, I just got a 21 inch monitor off of ebay (cheap) It works great, but I'm getting sick using it unless I shrink the windows down to a more normal size. Anyone else ever had this problem, and will it go away after I get used to it.

You might enjoy it more if you run it at a higher resolution. I run my 19" at 1154x864,
gives you more information.

Try changing your refresh rate on your monitor. I had this problem a few years ago and once I got all of the settings correct the problem is gone.

Crank the resolution up to 1600x1200 if your video card will upport it.

That will "shrink" the windows/text/icons etc while giving you more drawing real estate in your design programs.

sorry guys.....guess I shoulda told ya what I have it set at to begin with Its an older machine, and 1124x768 16 bit is all it wants. tried higher and 'ouch' it didn't like it. If I keep the windows the size of the old 15 inch it doesn't bother me. I think its just the shear size of the thing, and the fact that its like being in one of those 3d ammusement park rides is the problem. hahahaha. It seems to be better today. maybe the old brain will get used to it!

Utter- if you begin to feel a seizure coming on seek medical attention. Also post your address so Old Paint can pick that thing up at the tag sale once the seizure renders you unable to run a computer. LOL! I have found when I go to high a res I get headaches and I quit all drugs years ago. Go figure.

If yer gettin motion sickness, try sitting farther away from the monitor.
It sounds like you just need to adjust to your eyes having to scan a larger area. Remember, now they have to move faster to cover more distance in the same amount of time.
You might want to see if there are newer drivers for your video card too. New drivers can sometimes allow you to run higher resolutions than you have in the past.

If yer gettin headaches from lookin at computer monitors, the refresh rate on the video card isnt set right.
Your eyes/brain are very sensitive to the refresh rate/scan rate of TV's and Monitors, and if it isnt set right it will make computing very uncomfortable for you.

Right click on your windows desktop and select "Properties". Click on the "Settings" tab then underneath the resolution setting there's a button labeled "Advanced".. click on that, then click the "Adapter" tab.

You will see the Refresh Rate setting down below, chances are it's set on "Adapter Default". Now, the best refresh rate varies.. it's affected by the screen resolution, screen size, number of colors, amount of memory on the video card and your brain - we're all different in what we can tolerate. You need to pick what's comfortable for you and what works with your hardware. If you pick a wrong setting per the hardware requirements, you'll know it instantly cause the screen will either flicker, whine, buzz, pop, or just go otherwise berserk. You can always go back to the setting you had before though. If the screen goes so berserk that you cant even read it, hit the "N" key because windows asks you if ya want to keep the setting: (Y)es or (N)o.

As an example, on my machine my refresh rate choices are Adapter Default and Optimal. If I set it to Optimal, it looks the same as the default but after about 5 minutes of lookin at it I got a headache. For my setup, the default is the most comfortable setting. I can sit at the machine for HOURS on end and my butt gets sore before my eyes do.. in fact my eyes have never gotten sore from my home computer.
