This sign calls for a dimensional apple graphic. After blasting, the apple will be raised about 1/4'' or so and then topcoated with acrylic latex (DTM). we then want to install a carved HDU applique onto this.
What would be the best type of adhesive to adhere the foam to the paint? silicone?
Should I Paint the back of the foam as well or leave it raw?
Should I make the applique slightly larger than the blasted outline?
I plan to prime with several coats of Jay Cooke's primer and then spray with bright glossy red paint. What type of paint would you suggest?
Being bright red, It probably will need a clearcoat of some type. What would be best for this?
Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated as this is a new adventure. Thanks for the help!

Leave the back raw and use silicone or Polyurathene glue. If you are really worried about it you can drive a few finishing nails into the sign, nip the heads off, glue it up and push it on.

PB240 adhesive. You want it to retain a permanent clear gloss and be rock hard on the surface? Final coat it with clear Pelucid. BTW.....cool piece.

Thanks Brian, seems like it would hold better that way. I like the nail idea too.
Pierre, is that PB240 a polyurethane glue like Gorilla Glue? I have some Gorilla Glue. Does PB240 expand too?
Can the Pelucid be sprayed in a conventional or HVLP gun? Oh, and thanks for the compliment!
Thanks

My Dad's gone for a bit, but, yes, you can use a conventional spray gun. That's how we do most of our Pelucid applications. The PB240 expands. I don't know the difference between the two, just that the PB240 is sold specially for HDU. I think the explanation about Pelucid is on the webside on the Products part. :^)

Hey Steve, What happened to the image? It was there a while ago, now it's not? Not on my puter that is. Just a big empty frame with a little "x" box in the upper left corner.

I'm stumped Wayne. It looks like theglobe is going out of business, but they say not until Aug 15. Maybe the server is just down temporarily. If all else fails, e-mail the photo to us and we'll put it on our server.

Thanks Steve, I didn't know they were going out of business. Guess I'll have to find another "website". I only used it for posting pics on the BB. Maybe in the near future we will get a real website. Thanks for the offer and the info!
