Does it start defrag and then keep restarting Ian?
If this is the problem, try Cntrl/Alt/Delete once to see what else is running.
From this dialogue box close use "End Task" to shut down everything except explorer and try it again.
HTH,
David

Hi Ian,
I had the same problem at work the other day. One of the computers wouldn't run defrag and it was because it wasn't installed. I just put the windows cd in, installed it and it was good to go. Don't know why it didn't get installed the first time.

Hi, Ian,
You could also go to Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools and on that flyout select Maintenance Wizard. That will defrag, scandisk standard, clean off temp files, and supposedly speed up your most frequently used programs. (Their phrase, not mine) You can also set up a schedule for this to run automatically. Try it, it should work. Good luck.

Hi Ian,
I also had this problem when I first tried to defrag. .It could be that your corel folder, task scheduler or other at the bottom bar need to be exited or disabled. Also, it will not run if your screen saver is enabled!
Hope this helps!

Something else that has fostered that problem for me is a screensaver. Turn off virus scan stuff also. Everything should be dissabled except the most basic system requirements.
