Just got an email from Laura Butler. I know I had seen her name on here before, but I don't remember every emailing her, so I have no idea how my email ended up in her address book.
Anyway, it was something about bad hair (subject) and there was an attachment. Soon as my isp got done giving me the email, my anti-virus kicked in and told me it had a virus. I have emailed her to let her know about it, but wanted to warn others.
Why suddenly are there so many new virus popping up?
Everyone, please take this as a friendly reminder to update your virus protection software often (with the constant posts about virus lately, maybe we should be updating everyday)

I got a virus message from Laura a while back, and sent her a notice. A few days later I got both a real message and a virus message from Laura. and sent her a second notice that her machine was infected with a recommendation as to what to do about it.
Looks like she still doesn't have it worked out. Vic G

Adrienne..Am I uderstanding you correctly... You don't have an anti-virus program YET?
I guess you have spent too much on travelling lately and you don't need yer puter to paint windows!
GET Norton or McAfee..at the least you will spare yer "friends" from the viruses you have!!!
If ya don't care about yerself..at least care about yer friends!!!!!

Adrienne, several years back someone on this BB recommended a program that I've been well pleased by. They catch stuff that gets by Norton and you might want to check it out. Look to some of the computer mag's and see some of the reports on this product. http://www.centralcommand.com/

Naw Adrienne, Not grumpy. Just trying to make a point. It cost me over $700 last year when I got a virus (I didn't have an AV prog). Just trying to emphasise the importance of having one to save you money and your friends money.
I use Norton, just because I like the way it works, updates and is configurable.
I only average about 2 or 3 e-mails per day, but Norton catches at least one virus per week and recently it has been catching 2 or 3 each week.
Something else I did was empty my "address book". That way a virus that might get by Norton will not be transferred to others via that method.

We started with McAfee and just never tried anything else, so Norton may better, I just haven't tried it. We have the deal where you pay annually, and the computer automatically checks for updates every day. I think they charge $34 for two years.
Like Dave, I would say - what is a day of lost production worth? Virus protection is cheap insurance. Vic G
