Timi......boy can I relate. It has always been this way for me too. Drives ya nuts sometimes tho eh? The good thing is> my kids definately understand the value of a buck. When business is good...we go on vacations...when it is slow we eat beans! They found out a long time ago 'we don't have a money tree growing in our yard!', and sometimes you just have to wait for certain things. I have discoverd this just makes you prioritize more.

Cheryl, atlthough Prioritize seems to be the correct spelling according to spell-check I could find any definitions of the word
I however do have a money tree growing inside my Blackberry bushes which will be blooming around October

Joey I beg to differ with the spelling of "Prioritize" Down Under and the UK spell it Prioritise, joking aside, I see the concept as the key to the problem, to prioritise (or Prioritize)the workload so that time is given to that which is most profitable. Urgent work is not always Vital work. It's a case of working out what is vital to oneself, for most of us - making money is one reason why we do it. For example, I have a few priority customers, they always come back to me, they give me plenty of work and never wasted my time with quotes. When they call, I drop everything and do their work. I have an obligation to give them the best service in return for their support. Whereas there may be other urgent work that is not so profitable - they can wait. works for me

Hate to say this, but I do the same as Gray! Old, customers, who pay their bills, and don't haggle over everything; are my priority work! New customers, low profit customers, PIA customers, and slow paying customers...they can wait!
Now as far as work comming in bunches.... if you take the phase of the moon plus the price of eggs, divided by the weight of your shop truck equals the possibility of getting it all done before Wednesday!

Gray..I have a couple of customers like that!
when they call..I put them at the top of the list!
I know I'm gonna be paid instantly and I know that I'll be called again a week later for another job!
I LOVE those customers!
