Was wondering if anyone has been successful running Casmate or Inspire with Windows ME or 2000?? I think they say on the website that it doesn't support it....but when it comes to Scanvec or Amiable....they don't support anything anymore. I was wondering if they just might state that in order to prevent people from calling them with problems.
Thanks in advance.

Casmate is a 16 bit program, Windows 98 & up are 32 bit programs. They're not compatible. I run Casmate Pro on Windows 98, and have had problems with the software locking up, of crashing, and having glitches running the spooler. I tried to solve the problem by reinstalling the software; what a mistake! After 4 hours on the phone with tech support, I was finally able to output to my plotter. Their only reccomendation to me was to run it under Windows 95, which I intend to do if I have anymore major difficulties.

Yea, I hear you about the crashes. I'm running both 6.52 & Inspire under WIN98 right now. I get the occasional crash with Casmate, but not really anymore than I did back with 95. I don't really think that it being 16 bit makes it not work....I think it just doesn't utilize the benefits of 32 bit. I've installed programs that were made for Windows 3.1 and they worked fine. The only thing that really bugs me is having to reboot after a Casmate crash. At least when Inspire crashes, you can just reload the program.
I think I'm just gonna give it a whirl tonight. I just formatted my system and installed WinME, so I really don't have anything to lose for trying. In fact, if that doesn't work...i'll probably attempt it with Win2K as well.
I'll post how it goes when I attempt it tonight.

I was just scouring through the Amiable site and found some info on a "OCC error" when plotting in Windows 2000 Professional using Inspire 1.6
Now hopefully this means that Inspire works in 2000. What's funny though is that they claim this error dosn't happen in versions 9X. Funny though cause I get that error all the time using Windows 98.
Well I'm heading home to give this a try. I'm gonna have bloodshot eyes in the morning!!

Well, with a fresh install of ME, Casmate 6.52 installed easily and seems to be running fine. Then I attempted Inspire and it installed but errors out when trying to run it the first time. I attempted it with Win2K as well. The same thing happened. Kind of irritating when a old 16 bit Casmate works and 32bit Inspire doesn't
For what it's worth, I was attempting this on a AMD Athon Thunderbird 1.3 gigahertz with 512 megs of ram.
Guess it's back to 98.

the best set up is WIN 95B or C with I.E. 4.0 added this gives you win 98 within 95.smaller program, more stable, will run 16 bit or 32 bit....and will give you less problems. win 98A is good if you need USB support...it is very stable if you load it ontop a win95B or C version..and load all the drivers in to this then install 98a over that...and with that computer you got it will out run win ME or WIN 2000....

I am running Windows 2000 as my operating system and I don't have any problems with Inspire or FlexiSign working. I did a complete install of Windows 2000 instead of an upgrade and I haven't looked back since.
