Apparently "Alan Ladd", a regular poster on this BB, has chosen to remain anonymous to all of us and won't return my e-mails or answer the mayor's request for information. Therefore, I propose a contest to determine who he is and what he's hiding - sort of a Mystery Dinner Theatre played out on the BB, if you will. The first person to correctly identify him and his reason for the "mystery man" routine wins a steak dinner for 2 at the Duck Soup meet (if you're attending)
Okay, sign sleuths, let's get busy.

Well..I have no idea who Aladd is either but I bet Coop knows him. This was from a post back in February and Coop replied.....

How are you doing my friend?
I hope that life is treating you well. I am most happy you found your way to the #1 site for sign pros on the web!

Ah hah! How funny (funny strange, not funny ha-ha) that Coop is the one who knows this masked man of mystery. If my deductions are correct, Coop is the anonymous soul, and is just pretending he is ALadd so it seems as if he has a life outside of making signs and actually knows some people. The only fault is that ALadd is also a sign maker, so that means coop doesn't have a life outside of making signs!
Just kidding guys, I have no idea.

There really is no mystery here. We've known for sometime that there is no Alan Ladd in Atlanta with a sign business. Many of us know who Alan is, but we would prefer he would introduce himself, or in this case, reintroduce himself. There is no need to publicly embarrass him.
Have you ever been to a Letterhead meet Bruce? We've been going since 1983 and I cannot recall anyone wearing a mask or unwilling to reveal who they really were?
There is no place for anonomity in Letterheads or here in Letterville. In my opinion, there is an element of trust at stake. How can you trust information shared by someone who won't even reveal their true identity and interest in our business?
Letterville isn't for everyone. We are the only sign related BB that insists on no anonomity and we're proud of our policy. If you look at the posting activity here compared to other sign BB's, it is obvious that most welcome our way of doing things.
Letterville is a spot where those that choose to call themselves Letterheads can gather together to share knowledge, make new friends and network with each other. Those that disagree with this policy should never have agreed to follow The Law Of Letterville at http://www.letterhead.com/ubb-cgi/Ultimate.cgi?action=agree when they registered to post here. The keyword here is sharing and the first thing we share is our real name and location.

No, I don't know him. I kinda had a little run-in with him when he posted a message on another board Feb 6 entitled;
"David Cooper...trouble maker.Caught in the act"
I half thought he had registered here just to argue with me some more. So I welcomed him in the way I thought appropriate at that time. I really don't have anything against the guy, except if you're going to post someone's real name, e-mail, and even phone #. You should be brave enough to include your own.
But then again, I'm the "troublemaker" , right?

Lets face it, he is not the only masked person on the BB or the only one not to include a signature file. Some persons can't follow rules or cannot read but yet get by because others see their website and automatically feel this is a bonified poster.
I believe that if a person posts a question as if they deserve an answer, they should at least let others in on who they are. We here in Letterville are supposed to be a family of sorts whether or not we all do the same kind of work.
This BB is not at all like other BB's that do not ask for a registration from those who post and if one feels that their signature is none of anyone elses business then maybe they should go somewhere else. I dislike answering questions from persons who are ignorant to the facts of what this site is about and will continue to be who I am and what I am because thats the way I am. I love this board and have had to follow its code of ethics for the logest amount of time in order to feel like a part of it, so why mustn't others add their signatures, if we are to be a family of sorts then we must go be the rules or just go........

We know better than that Adrienne. I've been in you fridge and bed. Our goal is to meet as many of you in person as we possibly can. Now what other website, organization or magazine cares about it's users so much?
That's the real reason we want your names and addresses. When you make your living on-line, you never know when you might need a new place to live.
You are right Joey. All posts need to be signed and we are working behind the scenes to make that happen.
In most cases, the missing sig files are innocent mistakes. New users did not have easy to follow instructions when registering to post.
Just last week, we had the text in the code that runs the BB changed to explain our policy regarding signatures and explains how to do it as they are registering. It seems to have solved the problem. All new BB registrations in the last week are fine.
We're also contacting those without proper signature files via telephone and e-mail reminding them their signature files are missing and explaining how to add them via the Profile link at
Is your info up to date? Look yourself up in the database. If your info has changed, go to www.letterhead.com/edit.cgi , enter your Database ID and password, and bring it up to date.
Just a reminder. Your Database ID and password have nothing to do with your BB UserName and Password. If you don't know your Letterville Database ID and/or password, drop Barb a line.
Ok I'll idenify myself here's my picture,I didn't want to post it because it would make you all sick of jealousy over how good looking I am ,except for maybe Mark Fair ! Despite all popular belief my name is Alan.I don't live in Atlanta anymore & no I don't want to tell all of you why. My conduct has been 98% good which is better than I can say for some of you If I tell you anymore I will have to fly to your city & KILL YOU Some things are better left unsaid. When I made my profile I did live & have a shop in Atlanta but not anymore & I just never thought of changing that info to many other things on my mind & I didn't want to explain anything thats what I USE to have a wife for. I just wanted a place I could forget my troubles, and be left alone. I didn't mean to try & deceive anyone I just wasn't ready to share my life & tell people why I wasn't in Atlanta anymore & I'm still not ready. PLEASE TRY & UNDERSTAND. Alan, would the real Alan please stand up...I'm up ! You'll have to take my word for it.
