While splicing sandblast mask together on a panel, I found myself cutting too heavy in a few spots. What is the best material to use to fill voids/splices/gouges on HDU. I am thinking of fast set Bondo (the automotive stuff). What works best? thanks, Curt Stenz

Curt....In my limited experience fooling around with carved and blasted HDU, I found that using the two part spot putty that body shops use is far better than using bondo. It sands a lot easier and sets up in 5 minutes, and doesn't shrink like the old style Lacquer based spot putty. You can also sand it with 120 grit paper quite easily.

Coastal Enterprises makes a Filing & Smoothing compound specifically for this, it is called FSC-360WB. Cleans up with soap and water, dries fast, and sands extremely well.

Light weight spackling works very well for shallow booboos and scratches. I have filled deep gouges with bondo and then "feathered" them out with the spackling to make them practically invisible. Prime first because HDU sands faster than the filler does, leaving a "shiner".
