You mean those signs are all spelled incorrectly? Them's proper usage in these here parts...

My Wisconsin favorite--" NO FISHINIG"
with the last few letters jammed in at the end, of course!!

Yer Pal, Bill Krupinski--only days away from the Milwaukee Panel Jam, in Waukesha! ( actual spelling...)

One time we were driving through one of these frute stand areas and one of the signs said:
CORN-
PICKLES

Grandpa started in with "Hm, Corn Pickles. I wonder what they are?" For years it bugged him, I would hear him muttering "Corn Pickles, Hm." Under his breath. The old boy took the mystery to his grave, never figured it out that was Corn AND Pickles.
Ha ha. Ain't the sign life great?

In the same light as corn-pickles...my personal favorite has always been:

Adrienne,

On the road where my grandfather used to live, there lived a farmer who grew two crops. He would advertise them, on a homemade sign hung on his mailbox.

"SQUASH BEANS"

To most, this might have read like a description. To me, it was a directive. "Squash Beans!!" I would scream, in an ogre-like voice...and cackle to myself for miles.

Avery - I know you can pickle all sorts of stuff - even EGGS! But, they have to be cooked first, Hard Boiled, in fact, and if I remember correctly that doesn't happen in your house...
