OK this was for a auto paint shop. They want 2 different color 4" stripes around the sides and front of about a 20' mobily home.
At the rear 6 ft. the two stripes curve upwards about 2 feet, level out and broaden into 12" stripes. I told the guy about $500 bucks and he had to pick his jaw off the ground. No wonder he's been through so many sign shops. There are a number of obstacles to go over and cut around too, a pain in the butt job as far as I can tell. I wouldn't splice three pieces to vinyl to make the graphic shape either, I figure to do it right you should get material big enough to do the job. What would you charge ?

He's gettin a deal at $500 I think, that's less than what I would charge for him to take the striping and let him apply it hisself.

If I were to make the rear 6' section in one piece I'd have to go to Gregory cause my machine just isnt big enough, so between that and the rolls of 4" striping (I wont cut that much striping, may as well just order a roll and save my stock) there's $420 in materials right there.

Normally I would double the cost of anything that comes from Gregory but in this case even I think $840 for striping is high..
Maybe add 50%.

$630 for materials plus markup..

What do you estimate the time to be? 2, 3 hours maybe? Striping goes down pretty quick but figure with the obstacles it's gonna take longer. $180 labor (3 hours)

$800.

Now's the time I start second guessing myself cause that sounds like a huge chunk of change..

Then I think back to when I was pricing the Troy Lee Designs stripe package that's available for my truck, which is nothing more than some thin flames cut out of reflective film with pinstripe lead-ins.. the kit is $600.

tell him to order a striping kit from winnebago and he will jump on yuor price.
had a customer that wanted a trailer that he pulled behind his motor home striped to match.
traced and measured the stripes. told him $1000.00 he said do it. they wanted $1200 for the kit and he had to install it.
