I called Scanvec-Amiable about the FLEXI upgrade from 6.5 to 6.6. There's a stiff charge of almost $200 for this. FORGET IT! I'm DONE with this outfit! 6.5 has too many problems that I supposed they somewhat fixed with 6.6( to which they've already added a SERVICE PACK to), NO MORE!!!!!!! If I can't do the job with what I have.....FORGET IT!........NO MORE UPGRADES>>>>!!!!!!!!! It's back to CORELDRAW!

Bob, I bet you are gunshy right now,but if you're thinking of a new software..I recomend you try Vinyl Master Pro.Its a very smooth running and stable program...And its priced right. You can try it out for free with a CD..only thing you cant do is output your job till you purchase. The spooler works just fine. The whole program is easy to learn. You get a well written manual when you purchase. Give em a try...they are merchants here.
Although the price is nothing to sneeze at, I have seen several demos of the new SignLab e6 and it looks awesome. I suggest you look at it in a month or so after the immediate release fixes have happened (they shipped it last Thursday).

When Scanvec and Amiable merged (or whatever), they chose to unload INSPIRE(in my estimation, a GREAT program)in favor of FLEXI. So they offered a FLEXI upgrade to INSPIRE users for $200. Using the old INSPIRE KEY to unlock FLEXI, this gave you INSPIRE plus the complete FLEXI program. "SUCH A DEAL", OK? I got FLEXI 6.5 v3, a real "garbage" program....doesn't hold a candle to INSPIRE! Now they come out with 6.6 (to fix 6.5) and almost imediately, an additional SERVICE PACK to fix 6.6! The service pack is FREE, but you need 6.6! To upgrade from 6.5 to 6.6 is a hundred ninety something! I've had ENOUGH! I'm NOT purchasing ANY MORE UPGRADES....READ MY LIPS! If what I have doesn't do the job, then FORGET IT!
I still use INSPIRE for everything anyhow! I run a plotter, a colorcam, and large format, plus all the PHOTOSHOP plug-ins, etc.,etc. from INSPIRE, and it does everything and works jess fine! So WHO NEED THE DAMN FLEXI THING ANYWAY!?

Bob, over the years when we've spoken, you've also shared that you used Casmate for general sign work and liked Inspire for the color printing. I still prefer Casmate to Flexi or Inspire, and if it wasn't just a 16 bit program it'd be competing with SignLab still. There used to be some folks with sign backgrounds involved in the development of this program, now they hire kids outa school and monkeys. No wonder the world of signs can look so boring when we walk down the street.

Joe, do they make that brush in a smaller version? say like a chipmunk? My canvases arent large enough to use a squirrel yet, just starting out with practice.

I bought flexi letter 5.7 six years ago. I couldn't be happier. I am having some lock up troubles now that I'm using Windows ME. I believe this is a 16 bit VS. 32 bit problem. I was going to uprade to the new flexi, now you guys are scaring the s@#t out of me. guess I'll stick with what I got.

What about Sign Wizard? We never hear much about these guys on this BB, but no company as invested as much as they have in Letterville. This company has had a banner ad here in Letterville for years. While the big guys rely on users giving them free plugs here, Sign Wizard always pays their way. Consider them along with the big guys.
They may not be the biggest, but Jim and the other folks at Sign Wizard have certainly earned a plug from Letterville. Without the financial support of Merchants and Residents, Letterville, in it's present form, would be a dream.

Bob, Sorry to hear of your problems with Flexi. I just got done doing the beta for the 6.6v1 and haven't had any real problems to date I have also beta test the last 4 or 5 version and have found a few things that they did attend to. What exactly are you having problems with? And if you'd like you can call me anytime, or e-mail maybe I can be of some help. I use flexi for both RIP and cutting and have 2 programs here that we use all the time and am happy with.

Si I am not sure but if you go to the theater this week there is a new movie opening, something about monkeys or apes or something like that, i think they can climb walls and paint at the same time. Hell they can fly into outer space, I'm sure they can splatter paint on a wall too.
I got Flexi too, does this mean I am bound to be unhappy too? I dont have anything to compare it to yet, so for me its the next best thing to cuttin it by hand
