Hey Guys and gals- I'm needing to buy some new gold (probably a box). I was wondering if anyone could give advice on what brand, type, etc. to buy. Please don't answer with sign gold, I have it and I hate it. Thanks for all your help.

I've never used no sign gold so I can't say nuttin'bout dat.
As far as gold VINYL, I use oracal for polished, Arlon for Brushed & Avery for Gold & silver leaf. I'd suggest to seal the edges of the Avery when using outdoors. You can get it at denver sign supply in Louisiana. I think I pay about $120 for 10Y. Hope this helps!

Hi Rob, Call Sepp Leaf Products in NYC 800-971-7377 The last book I bought was Crocodile Brand made by Eytzinger.Had the Sepp leaf logo on the box.Its patent leaf 23K.Dont know about their loose gold.. This product seems to work well.It releases from the rouge paper just right. Its brilliant and doesnt have a lot of holidays. Cant recall price its been a while..I rewmember it was reasonable. Ask for a catalog when you call. They have lots of interesting products.

You don't say what you intend to use this gold on Rob,... There are several types of leaf for several types of applications and it primarily depends on the application as to what type of gold you should purchase.Call Sepp leaf in NY they usually keep stock of just about any kind of leaf you'll need & then some ya might not need.I don't know if they are merchants here but if they aren't they advertise in just about every other sign tade periodical so a plug for the bbs might not hurt. seppleaf.com hope this helps ya!

we use guisto minnetti 23k patent leaf available at art essentials of new york. i don't have the phone number here at home.
we prefer the italian gold over thte german and the japanese leaf. better burnish and color. i think everyone has their preferences. you need to try different brands and such and choose the one you like the best.
have a great one!

By all means call Art Essentials of New York. I use a German "Best Ducate" gold in loose, patent and glass. Don't buy a book at a time from a sign supply house, the price is double or more. Art essential's price on my last pack of loose 23k was $267. That's $13.33 per book. And you get to talk to Arnold Jacobson, who sounds like Henry Kissinger on quaaludes.

I'm with Cheryl and Si. Sepp Leaf Products are great people, but Rick and Lola are Letterville Merchants. Nobody knows more about gold than Rick Glawson. Give him a call or visit the Esoteric Website at http://www.esotericsignsupply.com/
If anyone is talking to Sepp Leaf Products, please invite them to setup a shop here in Letterville. It's much less expensive than a tradeshow booth. The Letterville show also runs 24/7 365 days a year! Have them mention your name when they call and we'll send you $50 towards a dinner on us.

I would have email ya Steve but mines not working.
Understandable in regards to suppliers but Sepp and Art Essentials are only a stones throw aways from Rob and with phones, mail, shipping and the waiting time etc, and it can put a dent in ye olde pocketbook. I would have loved to see everyone using advertisers from this board but some things aren't possible and many suppliers close to home are more of a best bet.
