I had an unfortunate experience with Priceline.com the other night and I thought I would post what happened so it won't happen to someone else....
I was trying to get a cheap roundtrip ticket for Jim to Las Vegas to attend his younger son's wedding in August.... I only bid a hundred bucks, was told I had a 3% chance of getting it at that price....I followed (I thought) all the steps carefully..... Guess what?? I got the bidded price !!(plus thier added fees and taxes, etc) Problem was....... I must have agreed somewhere along the way to letting them choose the time to fly... Well...it gets him to Vegas at 11 pm (4 hours AFTER the wedding) and returns him 6 hours later the next morning! Totally useless..... So...before you all suggest I write, call, complain, plead, beg, negotiate etc.... I've done it all and with both Priceline and the airline which is booking the flight, and they all told me (in so many words ) you are screwed, and if we can be of anymore help, please let us know....oh, and...have a nice day, f*#k you very much!
And I can't even buy him an earlier flight to get him there on time and let him fly back with the remaining ticket....if his (and it HAS to be HIS) warm butt is not on the plane going to Vegas they cancel the remaining flight home,....yadda. yadda, yadda..f*#k you very much and thankyou for calling America West...!
So....just to let you know if you are going to use any of these discount fare bidding sites, please....don't to begin with, and if you have to, please read everything very carefully before you hit submit!!
I'm out $145 bucks and STILL have to buy him a rt fare to get him to the wedding! A

I got 2 round trip tix from NJ to Vegas last year on Priceline less than 1 week before departing. ($600 for both round trip tickets)Saved me about $800. There were departure times to pick from - if I remember correctly about a 6hour window you had to choose from. So, you could pick that you wanted the flight to leave between 6am-noon, noon-6pm, 6pm-midnight, or midnight-6am. Weird thing was I bid $250 per round trip ticket and I immediately got an email saying they couldn't find anything. Then I got another email a couple of minutes later telling me to call an 800 number. When I called they then offered me the tickets for $300. I got a great deal on a rental car (Alamo) through Priceline too. I went on Alamo's site, found the car I wanted and found the rate I'd normally pay. Then I went on Priceline and bid 40% less and got it.

I'm only stateing that IF you go there, be careful...there is a lot to read through and if you are not paying attn like I was, you could end up throwing away money...

Yup you gotta read. I got my tickets for The Milwaukee meet from priceline. I saved 58%. from what travelocity wanted. Even more from local travel agents. But yes, they DID say they'd pick out the flights.
My son has something to say about it too: BN TLJ LKTKYO MUYTPYU

Adrienne, if you used a credit card to purchase the tickets, you could call them and explain that you want the funding withheld and wish to file a claim because there is a dispute. You might get stung in the end for not reading the page before clicking OK, but it's worth a try.

My bank said I could put a stop payment on the transaction (debit card) but I probably would be liable for the payment anyway.....and as I'm trying to establish good credit I don't need anything derogitory. I'll just have to eat this one.....no way around it that I can see. Just won't ever go there again.

I recently used expedia.com and had no problems. It's set up a bit different, you enter where, when, etc. you want to go and it gives you the options. Different hotels, airlines, flight times. Then you choose and buy. There isn't any bidding, but I was quite pleased with the prices we got. (2 round trip tickets to Orlando and 3 nights hotel for $625 total). I was really nervous, having never used anything like that before so I read everything twice. Guess that's the best advice, even if are comfortable with the site/service. Read everything....TWICE.
Sorry Adrienne (I know I'm spelling that wrong). better luck next time and I hope you get it straightened out. Keep calling and asking for a supervisor if you don't like the answer you get.
