I have a possible 6' x 6' sign to construct. The customer is going either electric or non illuminated.
How would you do this? All of my signs larger than the standard 4x10 to 5x8 have simply been multiple panels containing a seam. Is there a material available in larger sizes? Do you have a special treatment for making seams nearly invisible?
With the deterioration in quality of MDO, I've been mainly using Alumalite which I can get in 4x8, 5x8, & 4x10.

Hey, Davey. If it's lighted you won't have a seam at all. Just buy the 72" lex. If it's Dibond, run the meeting edges through the saw at the same time, then bond a 2" strip of Dibond to the back side covering the seam. Should be almost seemingly seamless.

Pierre, I know the electric signs are not a problem. I order them either completed or just the cabinet and apply the graphics myself.
It's the non illuminated 2D signs that I'm talking about here. Is the factory edge on the aluminum products not straight enough to get that almost seamless look?

Davey, Alumalite will definitely show a seam unless you find two with the inside corregation exactly the same, or if it doesn't bother you enough you can still laminate a strip to the backside. You can get the "h" channel for Alumalite if the plastic joint doesn't bother you. Dibond has a kinda rolled edge to it.

Dave, I bought some translucent material years ago for a lighted sign.I like the material and used a lot of it.It took paint very well. Sorry...I cannot remember the product name. It was some kind of plastic with random fiberglass mat in it. It was about 1/16" thick and was cut to length off a roll.Any size you wanted. For non light signs you could paint the back to make it opaque or top coat for colors. The distributor went out of business...I stopped using it. Maybe someone will read this and recognize the material..

You could try a metal supply warehouse. I had a salesman in the shop from one of these places about 4 months ago and he told me that this stuff comes in various lengths and widths. It won't hurt to try. If you get a peice big enough you know what to do.
