For all you Corel users out there that also use Avery or Arlon films, I offer the following custom color palette for you to download. The palettes do not reflect the entire product line available from either manufacture, just the ones that I most needed. I will be doing some 3M palettes in the near future and will make them available as well; if anyone would like them. Enjoy!

I have a dedicated page that has all the files available for single download; it is located here. Or you can right click on the zip files below then select “Save Target As” option and save direct to your hard drive.

AVERY FILMS

Twelve Avery palettes in zip file format: Avery.zip

ARLON FILMS

Six Arlon palettes in zip file format: Arlon.zip

Bob,

I grabbed your Avery palette to load in Corel but when I try it says it's not a valid corel palette. I am using version 8. Think that's the problem?

Amy,

Unfortunately I don’t know enough to answer your question.

I bought a copy of CD8 when it was released with the intentions of learning, but the media is still enclosed in its shrink-wrap as I type this. Then I got CD9 with a larger desire to learn the program. It’s been that way for about ~10-12 months now, all desire with no follow thru! Two weeks that changed! I finally recognized that I could no longer afford to use Gerber OMEGA as my sole design/layout program. I looked at all the people on this board that use CD exclusively or rely on it heavily and said, “Hey, wait a minute.” Glenn Taylor, who is also heavy with Gerber equipment, uses CD on a regular basis. Plus, I looked at some of the things Bob Darnell was doing with CD and thought enough is enough. It is just too laborious (read – profit consuming) to do many tasks in OMEGA that CD can do effortlessly (read – profitable). And the more I learn every day, the more upset with myself I become for not doing it sooner!

The palettes were made in an effort to reduce errors and downtime. The more accurate information that I can provide a production, sales or managerial staff member, the less interruptions for me (read – more profitable) as the job progresses, and hopefully, reducing the opportunity for errors (read – more profitable).

So, now that I wasted a couple minutes of your time, I still don’t have answer for you. My knowledge base with the inner workings of CD9 and/or prior releases is not very strong at this point. Perhaps someone else can pitch in with an answer or solution.

Amy...I would think that that is exactly the problem. I had no problem adding Bob's palettes to my Corel/Grahics10/custom/palettes folder and then using the palettes in Corel 10.

Just in case the problem is with how you tried to "load" the palette, Amy.

Here is how I do it.

First off..unzip the file you grabbed. Then use Windows Explorer and find the palettes that were unzipped. Highlite and "Copy" those files. Then, again in Explorer, go to the Corel folder and find the folder called "custom" and open it. Next go to the sub-folder called "palettes" and paste the Avery palettes into that folder. Now when you open Corel you can open and use those color palettes. Hope this is all that it takes to get things working Amy.

By the way Bob's palettes are EXCELLENT!
