I understand that the first lesson will be a basic one but are you planning future detailed lessons which may require plug-ins or anything we should get now? Thanks for the initiative.

good question, pat...i plan on starting out with the basics. you will all know what all the tools do, how best to organize pallettes for laying out signs and logos, how to place photos for digitizing, outline and offset paths and how to use the various pallettes. depending on how many questions, etc. this part could take up the first 2 or 3 sessions. after that, if you guys want to, i'd be more than happy to get into the KPT plug ins. This won't be a prerequisite for the first month or so of classes. we'll go at whatever pace is necessary for everybody to get the hang of this useful program.
i will be scanning some "handouts" to dcc to the "class", like diagrams of the toolbox, pallettes, etc...both for illustrator 7 and 8...i haven't used 9.0 yet, so we'll have to wing that one if anybody has it
if one of you ibm folks wouldn't mind, it would probably be a good idea for someone to log the sessions, so that if somebody misses one, they can catch up without slowin down the others. ("hey, can i borrow yer notes, man?" hahaha)
these will be informal classes, though i will have a class outline. we'll take as long as it takes to answer any questions along the way. the goal of the class is to make anyone who attends proficient enough in illustrator to use it to create logos and sign layouts with a minimum amount of cussing
anybody else who might be interested in teaching a class, timi barrow and i have registered #letterhead_tech for this purpose...it would be kinda cool to eventually have classes available in photoshop, corel, signlab, etc at various times during the week or month.
