Hi folks! I recently started using HDU and was wondering what kind of paint other L-heads were using on it. Has anyone experienced any problems with a certain kind of paint?

Have used latex and lettering enamels, both worked great. Priming with high build primer is the key, several quick coats, let er dry real good then sand lightly. Good Stuff. Hey I have a spud gun, any relation?

Hey, Mike......we do LOTS of HDU carving and, if you finish coat it with Pelucid Clear it doesn't matter what paint you use. Literally! We've even mixed different areas using oil and water based paints to be able to use wierd colors. Check out the finish of the pieces on my website. Stuff really works. The UV inhibitor allows you to use any colors you want, even in a fixed south sign.
