I have to agree with Glenn, it does look better then some signs "professionaly" done here also.
The person who did this does have some ability, they just have never been showen how to punch up the layout and perfect the brush work.
You could probably train this person to be a good sign artist. My sign work looked like this when I first started. I was thankful some one gave me the chance.
Maybe this person has taken his first steps to becoming a "Letterhead." They may even show up at this BB and see their work.
Just in case they do come here and see this post, then I offer this comment: Hang in there, learn fom us, your next sign will be 100% better! Youve got what it takes but you need some ( a lot of ) guidance.

I suspect this signwriter knows more than you think!
If I had to sum up this person I would say he is already a " professional " sign painter, he probably has his brushes and a kit, paints for a few bucks and then on to the next job.
I also suspect the customer installed the posts and panel, and he just showed up and lettered it.
I knew a few guys like this when I was growing up. Nothing fancy, but it pays the bills.

Since I've never seen but only a handful post actual photos of their work here on the BB, I can only assume it belongs to one of the letterheads. If it were yellow and purple I would have to believe it was Joes signage. The area code says its Ann Arbor Michigan so it could be Dave Drapers work! . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . only kidding Dave....

I have to agree with Bob! Typical "snapper" job! Odds are that the sign was alredy installed and painted over, Joe Wino or Shakey Pete came along and "negotiated" a minimum price! Notice the layout and single stroke lettering. Outlines and shadows look like they were added later....different strokes...and odd colors!

Let's make a deal. If I confess that it is mine, does it guarantee that I get some special instruction in layout, color, and hand lettering at the "Duck Soup Splatter Jam"?

There used to be a guy around here called Krazy from Kansas, that did those star thingies on everything he did. If it is his work he has improved a little bit. LOL
My dad was a snapper back in the old days, but he learned how to paint by numbers and became a cocacola sign painter before he went into business for himself. This guy looks like he could learn to do better if he tries or wants. Bill

I like the clever use of "K" in "Kolectables". Just great!
