Last night be fore the fireworks started something got me to pull out some of my old magazines and see what I could find.

One of the ones I pulled out was the August 1997 issue of "Airbrush Action".

In this issue is an article on a guy named "James Gucwa", don't ask me how to pronounce that last name.

He once owned a sign shop in coconut grove near Miami, the article states but he now lives in the mountains in Arizona. From what I gather he no longer produces actual signs, but instead he does his first love in art. Fine art paintings of old neon signs from days gone by. The pictures of his work are awesome. He uses different teqniques in his painting including traditional brush work and airbrush work.

If anyone has this older issue, PULL IT OUT!!! For some reason I just do not recall reading about this guy when I first got the issue or any other time since.

Also, if anyone may know of a website or any other info on him, I would be much appreciated to hear it.

He is truely a "Sign-Artist"

BTW, If anyone is interested when I get some time I could scan the photos from his layout to give you a taste, but it may be this weekend before I would have the time.

We need to get this guy to a letterhead meet!!!

Troy, Everyone has problems with my last name but it's pronounced, goose-wa ( Guçwa ).
Thanks for reading the article about my fine art sign-paintings in Air Brush Action. If you have a stack of mags you might read articles in Aug 1997 and Aug 1999 and in Art & Airbrush Action Feb 2000. I've been painting canvases of Harley's in and around the old signs/neons, too. If you come across a new hardback by Voyageur Press called 'This Old Harley' you could get a look at some. Of course my web-site posts new works as they are completed at www.PhotoRealArt.com or www.Pegasus-Gallery.com/Kingneon.htm Always looking for photos of great old neons if anyone has any. Thanks again, Troy.
