Morning heads. I'm needing now, as in right now, about 1k full color (full bleed if possible) 8.5" x 11" copies for a presentation, as well as business cards, contracts & so on. I'll probably have to do a ton more soon after.
Should I get it done somewhere or should I just go ahead & buy a new printer? Suggestions please!!!! (Anything under $1.5k!!!)

a fast inkjet printer is 8 pages per minute. 1000 sheets would take a bit more than two hours, and probably three ink cartridges. that's a cost of $120 of ink, two reams of paper ($20-$40) plus a lot of wear and tear on the machine.
i'd suggest you go to a commercial copy shop (Kinkos, or whatever the best blueprint company in PR is) and have them do it.
is this job for yourself, or a client? why do you need so much letterhead so quickly? Can you give the recipient 5 or 6 full color sets, and then a whole bunch of b/w copies? (that is often the way things are done - the President gets the color, and everybody else gets a plain copy).

well, if it for your own promo, my advice is to get it all printed by a professional printer, and give it the five to ten days it takes. it will look better and cost less in the long run. full color printing (on demand) has come way down in price. (find any issue of MacWorld and you can buy 2000 full color postcards for $99, and they have a one week turnaround, same for business cards).

Whenever I have a customer who needs a flier designed/printed, and doesn't want multiple thousands, is I design it, run a master copy off at kinkos on their color laserjet, and take it to a place around here called Wholesale Copy. I am sure there are places like this all over. This is just a small place that does only wholesale color copying. $0.33 a page for a full color 8.5" x 11. Thats way better thank Kinko's ,which is $1.29 or so... Check out postcardpress.com for cheap full color cards/postcards...
